Knitted T-Shirt Fabric Consumption Calculation.
As an apparel merchandiser it is very much important for us to know how to calculate the fabric consumption for any specific style. Significantly fabric cost takes almost (50-60)% of the total FOB price for any specific apparel item. A right calculation of fabric consumption can save lot of capital of a garments factory. Today we will try to understand how to calculate fabric consumption for a knitted T-Shirt (Men's) item.
Things we will need to calculate consumption;
Measurements of Style (After adding allowance);
Formula: CPD= {(Length X Width X 12 X GSM) / 10000000} kg
Where,
CPD= Consumption Per Dozen; L= Length, W= Width.
Now,
A) CPD (Body)
= {(Length X Width X 12 X GSM) / 10000000} kg
= {(73 X 104 X 12 X 150) / 10000000} kg = 1.37 kg
B) CPD (Sleeve)
= {(Length X Width X 12 X GSM) / 10000000} kg
= {(24 X 47 X 2 X 12 X 150) / 10000000} kg = 0.41 kg
C) CPD (Neck)
= {(Length X Width X 12 X GSM) / 10000000} kg
= {(51 X 7 X 12 X 180) / 10000000} kg = 0.08 kg
So, Total CPD= A + B + C = (1.37 + 0.41 + 0.08) kg = 1.86 kg
Actual CPD = Total CPD + 7% Wastage = 1.86 + 0.13 = 1.99 kg/dozen
So, here the fabric consumption for T-Shirt (Men's) is 1.99 kg per dozen.
