In that sense, BIRT played an important role, since it allowed the creation of static reports and, together with the possibility of creating dynamic dashboards via component composite views, these two options represented the way to go for Business Intelligence (BI) with KNIME. However, not everything was perfect. BIRT and composite views, despite their advantages, were only partially compatible with each other in the context of KNIME. This led to a major problem: additional effort was required to create static reports with results generated in component composite views. The solution to this dilemma came with KNIME Reporting (Labs) . This extension allows you to export the results of analyses from component composite views efficiently and generate static reports in PDF format. This KNIME integration for reporting greatly simplifies the process of sharing valuable information and descriptive analysis with colleagues and stakeholders, improving efficiency in communicating results. With the KNIME Reporting (Labs) extension, reporting becomes even more powerful and accessible in the KNIME ecosystem, fostering data-driven decision-making.

KNIME Reporting (Labs): Essential nodes

• Report Concatenate (Ports) (Labs) : Combines report fragments into one and, when necessary, separates them with page breaks.
• Report Concatenate (Table) (Labs) : Joins report fragments from a selected table column into a report object, splitting them accordingly with page breaks.
• Report HTML Writer (Labs) : Converts the provided report to an HTML file in the desired location, perfect for sharing independently.
• Report PDF Writer (Labs) : Transforms the provided report into a PDF file respecting the page size and orientation settings, even if the report was created by combining different reports.
• Text View (Labs) : A versatile tool for viewing text, accessible through the “interactive view” option. It allows intuitive insertion and formatting of content and offers multiple formatting options. Please note that KNIME’s Text View (Labs) node is under continuous development, so we may see improvements and changes in future versions.

Merging the Static with the Dynamic

One of the most innovative features of KNIME Reporting (Labs) is its ability to create static reports from dashboards and dynamic component composite views. You no longer need to master BIRT or know hacks. This flexibility represents a paradigm shift in result presentation. You can now build reports that integrate a variety of visualizations in KNIME.

Moreover, with the introduction of the Report HTML Writer (Labs) node in KNIME 5.1, you can style your text and present it as HTML, which adds a visually appealing touch.
