Our client, Paragon Plating, is a long-standing business, established in 1989 in Billingshurst, West Sussex.

Knightsbridge Deal Executive Jennifer Morley, who led the sale of Paragon, describes the business as offering “high quality electroplating services, working with many of its clients in the electronic manufacturing sector for over 10 years”.

Explaining the key selling points of the company, Jennifer highlighted that “it has a very loyal workforce and is certified”.

Owner Nicholas Carwithen explained his wishes “to move on” - after joining Paragon in 1991. Jennifer set out to generate interest and find the most suitable buyer.

Nicholas explained his journey: “Having put my company up for sale with Knightsbridge just as the Covid pandemic hit obviously was very bad timing, however after the initial lockdown things started to move along.

“Initially I had totally unacceptable offers from ‘tyre kickers’ but Knightsbridge had to make me aware of these offers.”

Nevertheless, strong interest was generated and Nicholas was given no less than seven offers in total to choose from.

Very happy with the service he received, Nicholas described his 5-star experience as a “positive conclusion to a rather complicated sale”, going on to further explain his journey:

“After some time, serious offers were put forward and after a series of unforeseen complications an offer was accepted and the sale went through within a 4-month period.

“I was guided through the complicated legal requirements and procedures by the solicitors whose costs were included in the package.”

Paragon was acquired as a bolt-on by a neighbouring holding company, Pratt Sonburg Limited, which is also based in Billingshurst, established in January 2024 by Simon Pratt along with Glesni Pratt and Richard Pratt.
