According to Fierro, the big win drove home the point that the Golden Knights belong to this city, and this city belongs to the Knights. The franchise came along at the perfect time after the tragic events of 1 October, providing a salve and a bright light that helped Las Vegas pull together.
"The whole city was on the same page" during the Stanley Cup Finals, Fierro says. "We were living the same second together."
Fierro was reminded of a recent heated discussion with a good friend and business partner who comes from the opposite end of the political spectrum, and how small those differences are in the grand scheme of things.
"When I saw that big crowd outside the T-Mobile Arena celebrating, I thought of my mother's good advice -- don't discuss politics or religion, or you may hurt someone's feelings," he says. "You may turn a really good friend into an enemy for no reason at all."
