An incredibly intense but rewarding week has ended. I must confess that I got back to Sweden exhausted, went to bed and slept for 12 hours straight! Poor sleep and long air travel alone will do that on its own but adding the three sessions I delivered, led one workshop, and all the networking and interesting connections and conversations I've had, I am also mentally exhausted. But in an incredibly effective way!
Here are a few highlights from my end:
- Sharing (& Learning): Dawn and I delivered a very rewarding WS on Monday but also did something I don’t think has been done at #KMWorld before (?) - we turned our joint session into a temporary podcast studio, and by crowd sourcing topics from the audience, recorded a ”fireside chat”-style episode for #KnowledgeFika
- Podcast: On the note of Knowledge Fika, we recorded two more episode during the week, with two absolute legends in Knowledge Management: Susan Hanley and Stan Garfield! You won’t want to miss either of those two episodes, airing on December 2nd (Sue) and January 7th (Stan). You will both make for a great finally for our first year of broadcasting, and a great kick-off of the second season of 2025. Thank you both for being on the show!
- Collaboration: I also got a chance to meet some people in real life for the first time, that I’ve been connecting and/or collaborating with during the past year. Like Vanessa Liu Sugarwork (episode 4 of Knowledge Fika 2024) and Emily Harburg, Ph.D. of PairUp (planned for Knowledge Fika episode 2 in 2025).?It was great meeting you two amazing entrepreneurs and businesswomen “live”, especially as I am myself working hard to get my own business off the ground! But also, for getting a much closer look at your interesting and very promising KM-solutions.?And of course, "old guests" as well as new collaboration partners, like

.
- Learning (& Sharing): All the speakers that took the time not only to spend a week with us, but also invested considerable time in creating content. But I must be honest here: I have no clue what was on most of those slides (no offense!), but I will remember the personal stories you told during your presentations. And I will remember in what context your story was told, and what the key points you made by telling it. In the end, your stories will become part of my "chosen truths" and standpoints that I will remember and re-tell (intellectual "IP" re-use) for a long time, and partially adopt, adapt, and incorporate in my own "experience account".
- Personal gain: As I have stated (and written about e.g. here: The Business Value generated by our Community) communities like these, are where I really learn new things, which help me continuously challenge my own (and other's) beliefs and truths, and evolve my approaches to KM. This type of particularly important and (to me) the greatest form of knowledge to help me grow - and grow faster! - is the Conversational Knowledge, as a means to convey and exchange, Tacit Knowledge. This is where I truly learn because I am having a dialogue with someone who has experience (and sentiment), and it allow me to re-articulate my questions as I learn more. Basically, a prompt-engineered chat, but with an intelligent human being who also has emotions, on the other end.
NB: The reason I put Sharing/Learning together, is because I always learn at these types of events, whether I am on stage or in the audience myself. By hearing other people's questions, or problems, I am always forced (in a good way!) to challenge my own truths & beliefs, see similar things from different perspective, and apply the best of my knowledge + the most relevant of my experiences, to answer a question or to help solve a problem.
I also got a chance to re-connect with some KM-leaders that I haven't seen in a while - in some cases, for a very long time! - like Kim Glover, Dave Snowden, Cindy Hubert and many more. Hopefully I'll see you again soon, perhaps at Knowledge Summit Dublin, in June 2025?!!?
And of course, the one and only Chairwoman for the KMWorld conference, since the beginning: Jane Dysart! Without you none of this would have been possible. Thanks!?
