Knox Martin Foundation for Brain Cancer Research
The Knox Martin Foundation for Brain Cancer Research was created to fund the next breakthrough in brain cancer treatment
As summer begins making its transition into fall, we’re dropping into your feed with some exciting KMF end-of-summer news and highlights. Today, we’ll cover a summary of happenings from August and the beginning of September, while we provide the latest on upcoming fall events in the KMF community. Don’t worry, we’ll make sure to keep this short and sweet!
End Of Summer Highlights
We launched not one, but TWO new fundraising initiatives at the beginning of September...?
Our Inaugural Golf Against Gliomas Tournament
The Knox Martin Foundation’s first annual Golf Against Gliomas Tournament went off without a hitch! We’re proud and thankful to say that we welcomed a sold-out tournament of 120 players and over 25 volunteers, board members, vendors, and golf pros to the beautiful Legacy on Lanier golf course on Friday, September 8th! Dr. Kelly Hotchkiss, Ph.D. of the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke joined us all day on the course to chat with players and speak on behalf of Duke about the innovative research being done with KMF funding.
A huge THANK YOU goes out to all of the KMF sponsors and community members (new and old), including our Clubhouse sponsors Candler Real Estate and EKM Properties who made this new fundraising venture so fun and fruitful. We’re still pinching ourselves at how magical it was to facilitate some friendly competition while coming together to help fund the next breakthrough in brain cancer research at Duke.?
Congratulations to our inaugural tournament winners, foursome team: Trey Wood, Tod Crane, Dustin Wellborn, and Michael Whiting. Congrats as well to our runners up, foursome team: Steve Hill, Tom Walker, Bill Paiter, and Lee Rogers.
Way to go, guys!
The Wellness Wednesday Yoga Series is Underway
Calling all Gainsevillians and Hall County Residents! KMF Wellness Wednesday Yoga classes began on September 6th at 5:45 at the Arts Council Pavilion in Gainesville, Georgia. These weekly yoga classes, dedicated to raising funds for brain cancer research, are led by our very own Becky Martin (E-RYT 200), an experienced yoga teacher with over 25 years of yoga & meditation instruction under her belt. After every WW class, five local restaurants and businesses are offering incentives or donating a percentage of every Wellness Wednesday dinner back to KMF.
With a $10 donation to KMF per session, you can make a positive impact in our fight against Glioblastoma while nurturing your mind, body, and soul.
