"Together Talks " feature # 16: Cibus Magnus Consulting LLC

Some background on Cibus Magnus Consulting LLC

For this edition of "Together Talks " campaign, KLS had the pleasure of interviewing Casey Pachek , owner, of Cibus Magnus Consulting LLC . Casey founded Cibus Magnus in March 2021. The company provides Food and Beverage Consulting designed for emerging CPG brands, distributors, and co-manufacturers that need assistance building their supply chain. Get advice from an expert that's worked it all in the very early stages of your start-up.

Path to owning

Casey had developed knowledge and experience in consulting throughout her career. She loved what she was doing, but something just always felt like it was missing. She didn't have the work/life balance she was hoping for. Normally when we do these interviews, we like to wrap it up with "What is your favorite moment?", however, Casey's story is so unique. Her favorite moment is what led her to create Cibus Magnus.

"The moment I quit my corporate job. I can still remember the call I got asking me to do something on a Friday evening, way after hours. It was something that could've waited until Monday. On top of that it was my Birthday weekend. I remember how the whole experience made me feel. Right then I decided, this isn't working for me. I need to make a change."

She quit her corporate job and took a bit of a sabbatical. She went hiking and really dug into finding herself and what she wanted to do next. Her time away gave her the perspective and clarity she was seeking. "I knew I loved what I was just not in the right position. I needed to get in the right mindset and the right place. I also wanted to give myself control over who I worked with, how I worked for them so I could best maximize offering my talents."

Helping brands with similar values

Cibus Magnus set out to target brands within the food industry. Casey felt a connection to these brands trying to create products designed to offer better solutions to consumers. Being a Type-1 diabetic since she was 13, Casey knows the challenge of always flipping over an item to review its nutritional value. Her shared values are what bring her so much pride in working with so many of the brands she has partnered with.

Cibus Magnus in Latin translates to "Great Food"

:)

She told us that usually her company is brought on for short-term project management. Whether it be a new product launch or line extension. one of the areas she believes sets her apart is her ability to relate and build trust with a client. She believes she does this through her transparency. There is no outsourcing with Cibus Magnus, Casey is the one handling the work. She sees the value of her clients knowing who is working for them and the fact that she provides continuity through the entire process.

The company provides streamlining operations, creating efficient processes. Cibus Magnus comes in and creates the workflow for the company to then maintain after their work is completed. Usually, the most opportune time for the needs of Casey is after a big launch of a company. They exceeded expectations and then the company asks, "Now what?" or "How do we reach the next step?" Casey also said that given her track record, all of her clients are referrals or word of mouth. This enables her prospects to reach out to her with a very specific task in mind. The specificity allows Casey to fine-tune her approach to achieve the best results.

Offering support

Casey said her hope for this year is to work with a larger-scale client. It is important for her to stay aware of those trends and the first-hand experience will keep her sharp. She also is interested in getting involved with the supplement space. Her biggest growth goal for 2023 is continued ERP integration. She sees the benefit for companies and equated it to becoming an Excel wizard, "It is just learning a new language."

We asked her what her challenges are and she said there are two roads. One is being offered full-time roles after she completes a project for a client. While tempting it erases her opportunity to help many companies. The other is hiring an additional staff member to allow the company to expand and grow. If there is one thing about Casey, it is she is true to herself and knows how to listen to her intuition. It is what led her to embark on this journey and start her own consulting firm in the first place. As she told us, "Right now I feel good, I'm in a good head space, I'm comfortable and balanced. I'm at peace with the workload, I'm loving what I do. I'm happy. I'll keep searching and when the time is right I'll know the answer for the company that matches my self-growth."

Really thoughtful insight from Casey. But fortunately for everyone, she didn't just share her journey with us. Recently she took the time out of her day to write a 5-part release on LinkedIn. She said she had multiple people reaching out asking about her journey so she finally decided to share some thoughts on her path along the way. Check out the insightful, raw, and beautifully written words from Casey, courtesy of her LinkedIn .
