KLH student’s device Line Follower Robot

KLH Hyderabad campus B.Tech students V A Sai Venkatesh, Kaushik Singh, Sri Charan, and Darak Tejasvi have created a Line Follower Robot, one of the most essential aspects of robotics. The Line Following Robot is an autonomous robot that is capable of tracking a black line that is drawn on the surface consisting of a contrasting colour. It is designed to move automatically and stay on track. The robot uses arrays of optical sensors for line detection, thus assisting the robot to stay on track. The array of four sensors makes its movement precise and flexible. The robot is driven by DC gear motors that are responsible for controlling the wheel movement. The Arduino Uno interface is used to perform and implement algorithms to regulate motor speed, allowing the robot to travel along the line smoothly.

The main objective of this project is to implement the algorithm and control the movement of the robot by proper tuning of the control parameters and thus achieve improved performance. In addition, an LCD interface is incorporated to display the distance travelled by the robot. The Line Follower Robot finds practical applications in industrial automated equipment carriers, small household applications, tour guides in museums, and other similar applications, etc. Presently, the project is in the prototype stage.
