KLH Students Create Smart Stick for Visually-Impaired and Elderly People

A team of students from the B. Tech Computer Science and Engineering course, namely Nihal Agarwal, Jaideep Sharma, T. Venkata Sai Sathvik, Shaik Abdul Shaan, and G. Dilip Reddy, has created a Smart Stick that facilitates Visually Impaired and Elderly People. This smart stick is a helpful aid for senior citizens in emergency situations.

This team has developed a prototype stick that has many components, such as object detection, water and slippery floor detection, location tracking, emergency signals, and SMS sending to emergency selected contacts.

Such a novel idea has been presented in a competition that encouraged new innovations, and start-ups, where the team gained good experience in presenting and interacting with the panel members.

Their idea was supported and applauded by many, and they gained vast knowledge by attending the competition. The team members felt that development is a continuous process and that, despite multiple failures, development should not stop.?
