KKL Luzern's Digital Transformation: Rocking the Lovie Awards!
In today's episode of Asking &why, rethinking benchmarks in design, branding and innovation, we indulge in a little bit of self celebration by giving you a sneak peek behind the curtains of one of our recent projects, KKL, that brought us to be finalists at the Lovie Awards in 2 categories. The KKL Luzern stands tall as an epitome of class and architectural excellence in Switzerland, a concert venue designed by the renowned Jean Nouvel. Yet, the monumental status in the real world wasn’t matched in its digital presence, failing to match its esteemed reputation especially in the B2B side. This digital shortfall became a focal point of transformation, becoming fuel for our creative ideas that resulted in a complete revamp of its B2B website you can explore here - and we are thrilled to see that this transformative journey caught the eyes of the Lovie Awards.

The challenges faced during this digital transformation were multifaceted. The primary challenge was ensuring the online experience reflected KKL Luzern's offline prestige. The prior B2B site neither mirrored the brand's elegance nor its business objectives. The goal was to build a UX-centric web platform that not only impressed users but also digitalized internal processes, making bookings and event management more efficient.

In collaboration with the KKL sales team, meticulous UX research, including user interviews and usability testing, was carried out and resulted in the introduction of an online booking function, a feature the event industry had been clamoring for. This feature, optimized for mobile users, assists in finding the perfect venue through essential filtering options, allowing rapid booking or custom requests, thus streamlining the entire process.
The KKL Luzern is an architectural majesty, and the new platform needed to convey that. We built a 3D immersive experience to give users a guided tour around one of Switzerland's iconic buildings.
But we didn't stop there: We also created a configurator to let them find the best-fitting room for their event.
The benefits of our work were immediate and profound. With an impressive 80% surge in monthly website leads and a 50% boost in pages browsed per session, the transformation bore fruit. The technical solution, coupled with a seamless marketing funnel, enhanced the website's organic discoverability but we’re not here to brag about the marketing results, only about the technical ones that got us to this amazing achievement like being finalists for such awards!
