Kittleman Day
Members of the bar were treated to hearing from our County Executive Allan Kittleman and Beth Levine of KO Public Affairs while enjoying lunch at Steve Wecker’s Cured/18th & 21st in Columbia. The food was amazing, as was the seamless service.
A new courthouse is imminent under the leadership of Allan Kittleman, with the credit he shared with the Honorable Lenore Gelfman. He showed a rendering of a submission by the winning bidder. It will be beautiful when it is built on the site of the current Dorsey Building off Route 108. For those of us who use a courthouse, this is long overdue. Our courthouse is barely functional, and security and technology concerns abound. To go to other jurisdictions like Montgomery and Anne Arundel Counties is to see how far behind the times we are. What a wonderful thing a new courthouse will be.
Flooding in Ellicott City has touched the hearts of all of us who have connections to this town. A new plan has been displayed, which is the product of many years’ worth of experience and study. Many of the owners on Main Street will not return after our second flood that wasn’t to happen for another thousand years. Many recognize that no one can return until Ellicott City is made safe. This plan calls for the purchase of the properties from Kaplan’s down the hill to the Phoenix. Property owners have asked for this, and the removal of those buildings, or what is left of them, will provide the opportunity to install infrastructure to handle the water. I only wish I could explain this as well as Allan did, but I know he will be happy to do so if anyone asks.
Beth Levine is the Communications Director on the Senate Judiciary Committee. She served in that capacity when Justice Gorsuch went through the process of working his way to the Supreme Court. Insiders’ information about the tiniest detail is interesting to hear from her, and now we have a glimpse of what is going on with Judge Kavanaugh.
Steelfire Grill hosted Robin’s Roost where a huge crowd gathered in support of Robin Kittleman and Allan, as they navigate this journey. There is no doubt that Allan has earned the support of many in his community.
