An Anecdote to Remember

I started writing my first novel, Love Swipe Blackmail, in a hospital. I was not the reason for being in the hospital, in case that thought worried you, nor did I write to take my mind off some illness. The reason I was in the hospital was to be my father's attendant during the nights. He was admitted because he was battling cancer. And on occasions, he came very close to winning the war.

The idea for Love Swipe Blackmail had been taking shape in my mind around the time he got hospitalised. It was during his hospitalisation that the worm of a thought became a crocodile, and the only course of action to stop the crocodile from consuming me, was to let the crocodile be.

?

While I was writing, at times late in the night, my father used to think that I was overly busy with company work, and I deserved 'life'. The only regret I have is not getting the opportunity to tell him, before he went calling on the world of my forefathers and foremothers, that I was not working at all. I was just expressing myself. No wonder then that I dedicated Love Swipe Blackmail to him.

I am sure he knows now, and he must have smiled when he would have gained this knowledge of what I was into, like I used to smile when he would lovingly reprimand me for seeing me work so late.
