KISS* your experiments!

Many people, including us at Geek Space 9, talk about the necessity of experiments to evaluate new ways and reevaluate the current way of working together or getting things done. That’s pretty nice!?

Something I experience is that meta-discussions about experiments start, although the obvious parameters are not yet on the table. To address volatility and risk, we can do simple experiments.

You may ask yourself, how to do it and how to start?!?

  • Start where you are!?
  • So, keep it simple and stupid! (*KISS)?
  • Think about what hypothesis you want to validate!
  • Write it down! KISS!?
  • Think about the obvious!?
  • Write it down explicitly!?
  • Think about how to measure and analyze the results!?
  • Write it down in a SMART way!?
  • Do it!?
  • Measure, analyze, and learn!?

When is an experiment successful?

  • Every time you start and analyze the result!?
  • Every time you learn something, even if you find out your hypothesis will not work in the future!
  • Every time you gain a new perspective!

As you may have noticed, it sounds simple and straightforward. Sometimes it will be hard and tricky. To learn, gain experience, and make the most of your experiments, find allies, make your experiment transparent, and share your success with the people you collaborate with. There will be things which will be important for the whole organization, and you will also learn from experiments performed by others to make things easier and simpler in your own environment.
