"The Kiss of Life."
As the dawn broke, my mind wandered to a striking image that won the Pulitzer Prize back in 1968. The photograph captured two brave electricians, Jay Thompson and Randall Champion. In the picture, Thompson is seen resuscitating his friend, who had been electrocuted by a jolting current of 4,000 volts, and bringing him back to life. The photo aptly earned the title, "The Kiss of Life."
Living in Israel, I wake up each day with a heavy heart, feeling as though my beloved country is being pierced by a similar electric current, hovering between the heavens and the earth. It's a feeling that leaves me desperate for someone to administer the "kiss of life" before it's too late.
Here's to hoping that a savior arises soon to breathe new life into the soul of our nation. May we all have a weekend filled with joy, better days ahead, and a peaceful Shabbat Shalom.
