Kipu at Q2B Paris '23 - a few observations

I spent last week in Paris on the #Q2B conference, meeting a ton of #customers, #hardware vendors, which we at Kipu consider our natural allies & partners, as well as #investors. The Kipu Quantum delegation especially enjoyed #Paris, which is a beautiful city in its own right, but also the vibrant local quantum ecosystem, which certainly leads the way in the #europeanunion.

A few observations:?

  • I perceive a new realism – it is now firmly established that quantum physicists are not magicians (paraphrasing the fantastic alain aspect ). While bringing us to the point where we are right now, i.e. having hundreds of noisy qubits, is a result of almost epic breakthroughs, we are not there yet.
  • It becomes more and more apparent that, next to further work on fidelity of qubits, in particular algorithmic innovation is crucial to get us to true outperformance. This is what Kipu was born to deliver, especially with our #digitalcompression and #digital-analog compression techniques, a.k.a. DCQC and DAQC.?
  • I have always admired the deep sense of comradery between different players (e.g. hardware and algorithms) in the ecosystem, which is still very strong – this will remain key to actually get us to the next big milestone, the first demonstration of #usefulness in #quantumcomputing.?

We at Kipu believe that way to the first demonstration of usefulness lies in combining the best (improved) machines from leading hardware players (especially from the realms of superconductors, neutral atoms and perhaps ion traps), as well as application- and hardware-specific quantum algorithms made by Kipu.?

Many steps to go still, but we are getting closer every day.?
