KIP-34 (Aither ARBO-eligible Carbon Project Opportunity)
Together with Aither , KlimaDAO Partnerships is proposing to allocate 227,000 USDC from KlimaDAO's Treasury to purchase 14,276 tonnes of afforestation credits at $15.90/tonne, to be delivered from Q4 2023.
The Snapshot vote is open until April 10th:
The project is run by the Private Afforestation Developers Organization (PADO), a longstanding Ghanaian cooperative. It is intended to address nine UN Sustainable Development Group targets and reverse the ongoing impacts of a massive fire in 1983.
By planting teak and eucalyptus trees, this Afforestation, Reforestation, and Revegetation (ARR) project will capture over 1 million tonnes of carbon over the next 40 years and provide a multitude of benefits to the local community and ecosystem.

The purchase agreement relates to ‘forward carbon’, as KlimaDAO is purchasing credits before they’re available on the spot market. This provides the project developers with early funding to accelerate development, as well as boosting credit supply in the Digital Carbon Market.
The credits will enter the DCM through C3 ’s $ARBO pool, which only accepts credits from industry-leading registries like Verra (the registry Aither is using in this case) and Gold Standard . The first credits are expected in Q4 2023.
If the credits aren't delivered, Aither will provide ‘like’ credits from a similar project with a similar vintage, region, standard, and methodology. ARR credits currently sell for up to $20, while more recent vintages usually command a premium in the Voluntary Carbon Market.
All $KLIMA holders can vote via Snapshot on whether the KlimaDAO Treasury should enter into this forward delivery agreement with Aither for 14,276 ARBO-eligible tonnes delivered over 2023–2024 at $15.90/tonne.
