Technology is controlling us. That day is coming where we all rely on technology when robots are in larger numbers than the country's population. Today, we are also using robots for better performance and better precision in many sectors. Technology is changing our way of thinking following the pandemic; nobody imagines a life without technology. Because of easily accessible technologies, even our current generation knows more about technologies. If we compare the two previous decades, all is just one click away in the recent decade, and we can easily access any information compared to the last decade.
What is the bonding force between people and technology?
The network is power. We can't make the most of technical services if we don't have the Internet. We are all connected to the Internet through mobiles, laptops, etc. The Internet is changing day by day as well. Starting with 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, now with 5G.
5G is the broadband network of the 5th century. 5G wireless infrastructure provides more consumers with faster peak download rates of multi-Gbps, ultra-low latency, more stability, massive network capability, improved connectivity, and a uniform user interface. Innovative user interfaces are made possible by higher production and improved performance.
5G implementations
According to a GSA survey, 38 countries have 5G networks, and several more have partly implemented 5G cell technologies. As our map reveals, North America, Europe, and East Asia are at the forefront of introducing 5G. Every country is invested in technology, especially in South, South-East Asia, and South America. South Korea is the nation that has launched the first 5G network, and it will remain at the forefront as far as broadband acceptance goes. By 2025, 5G networks will account for nearly 60% of South Korea's mobile subscribers. Some estimates forecast that by 2026, 5G subscriptions will reach 3.5 billion.
Kingdom and 5G
Since June 2019, 5G has been available in Saudi Arabia; however, Al Khobar city in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia has become the first city in the MENA region to benefit from a pilot project on the fifth-generation wireless network or 5G network. 5G, which advances Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 for economic diversification, is seen as a very significant step towards digitalization and linking all. In Saudi Arabia, the 5G release took place months after the company signed an agreement with Ericsson to introduce it. STC has worked with Nokia to carry out the network; they revealed the deployment process had already begun in early 2019. In Saudi Arabia, another 5G provider is Zain. Mobily is also offering the 5G service as part of their offerings, and since the new iPhone has the 5G capability, most of the iOS users switched on 5G.
Kingdom ranked 7th globally in 5G
In terms of 5G infrastructure and internet latency, Saudi Arabia ranks seventh internationally, said Abdullah Alswaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.
On this occasion, Abdullah Alswaha said:
"We should have more innovative digitalized investments, in the light of the challenges and the unclarity that will come ahead of us in the future."
The Kingdom, through the collaboration of Aramco and Google, has the highest IT investments in the Middle East region. With the most increased technological investments in the Middle East, with more than SR1 billion between Saudi Aramco and Google, versatility, deployment, and pace have returned today.
Kingdom pumped billions into digital investments, which widened Internet coverage scope, expanded the range of 4G and 5G networks to advanced levels, and created opportunities for companies and Saudi youth in various digitization fields.
Summary
As in previous articles, I always point out that those organizations will succeed who knows the current demand. Saudi Arabia did the same thing; they understand the importance of technology. The Kingdom is initiating such projects, which is the world's current and long-lasting demand. Before starting any project, we should consider that, after 20years, this project is also in need or not. Regarding the future and focusing on the current demand is the significant role of the Project Manager. I'm sure that Kingdom will achieve their meaningful objectives of Vision 2030 because of its proactive approach.
