Know what happens when you put yourself FIRST?

THE KING EATS FIRST.
I’ve said it 1000 times and I’ll say it 1000 more.
You can’t pour from an empty cup, and if the plane is going down, you can’t help anyone until your mask is on.
I’m smiling a lot more.
And I ain’t ashamed to talk about it.
I tried to be the hero for a little bit and I lost myself.
I went down into hell and I ended up being burned. My choice. My responsibility.
I’ve battled depression, anxiety and every other term you want to throw in the mix. I have ADHD and I chase squirrels.
I’ve had days I don’t want to get out of bed and days I want to run and hide.
I’ve had my heart broken and I’ve been angry. My heart still hurts at times, and anger still surfaces. I’m fucking human.
But I made a choice a while back.
I was the choice.
ALL IN ON ME.
I’m FAR from perfect and I’m FAR from having every answer, but one thing I know for damn sure is this:
I am the source of it all.
Anger. Love. Compassion. Joy. Sadness.
No man or woman can MAKE me feel anything. I choose that shit. I choose who I’m with and how I act. I choose what I allow in my space and what I allow to move me.?
I’m doing me man.
And I’m eternally grateful for the lessons of the past. For all of it. You can’t appreciate the light without some darkness. You can’t appreciate honesty unless you’ve experienced some deceit.
Fuck 2022 being “my year” and all that other jazz.
I’m making the next 5 minutes good minutes. And God willing the 5 after that.
If I see ya I’m gonna smile at ya and hug ya.
If you see me bring it in for some love.

2 年Believe it or not, I'm kinda struggling with this post (amazing by the way!), and this is why..... While I believe the train cannot move without an engine (king), a war cannot be won without a fed army (others). Life is give and take, I've literally given the shirt off my back to someone who was cold. Personally my joy comes from the "helpers high" of sharing what I have and seeing a smile. Retired from the military now, but we always put lower enlisted first... to eat, take breaks and show appreciation. Why? They take care of us in the longer run. This also applies to corporate America. Now, I'm not saying don't take care of yourself and leave ourselves in bad place. Responsibility is ours, and I absolutely agree we should cherish every 5 minutes! Far from perfect am I. But if I leave this world having made a difference in someone's life, then mine was worth it for I cannot take anything with me.
