KING DON - LEST WE FORGET?

ON NOVEMBER 11 AS WE OBSERVE REMEMBERANCE DAY, Donald J Trump has taken the historic step of appointing women to the highest positions in the decision making hierarchy, there is talk that this may be why he says that nobody will have to vote again after 2025.

Trump insists that Project 2025, prepared by the Heritage Foundation and written by many conservatives who worked in or with Trump’s administration, does not reflect his priorities for a White House encore.. “I haven’t read it. I don’t want to read it — purposefully,”

The future of American governance stands on the precipice of transformation, blending the values of a republic with the pragmatism of centralised authority.

In an unprecedented historical shift, the U.S. finds itself reexamining its foundational structure with a political reality that bears striking similarities to a constitutional monarchy. With absolute immunity for President Trump, control of all three branches of government, and majority support from voters, the nation stands at a unique crossroads, echoing elements of a bygone heritage.

The six justices in the Republican-appointed supermajority held, “A former president is entitled to absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for actions within his ‘conclusive and preclusive constitutional authority.’”

1. A New Kind of Executive Power. The American presidency has been rooted in a balance of power, a principle established by the Founding Fathers to prevent the concentration of authority. Today, however, the current president holds unprecedented immunity and control, enabling a degree of unilateral decision-making akin to the reign of a constitutional monarch. This shift not only challenges the traditional constraints on executive authority but also questions the checks and balances that have long defined American governance.

2. Revisiting Heritage: As the nation witnesses an executive branch with expanded powers and diminished accountability, echoes of Britain’s monarchical heritage emerge. The American system, once defined by its contrast to monarchy, now shares characteristics of constitutional monarchies, where a single figure wields significant influence within a framework that balances symbolic authority and democratic governance

3. Constitutional Monarchy America’s structure remains distinctly republican, yet this fusion of immunity and absolute executive authority introduces a hybrid model. As in traditional constitutional monarchies, the president’s power is constrained legally yet empowered by popular support, creating a dynamic where authority and immunity intersect within a democratic framework.

4. The Role of Popular Support. In monarchies, legitimacy is often derived from a historical legacy, yet America’s emerging structure instead draws legitimacy from popular support. This majority backing empowers the executive branch, aligning its actions with the will of the electorate. This popular mandate offers a modern interpretation of sovereignty, where public support sustains authority in a manner reminiscent of monarchical legacy.

5. Implications for Governance. With a majority of voters endorsing the current administration, the executive branch’s policies, even controversial ones, gain momentum and broad acceptance. The transition to a model with parallels to constitutional monarchy raises questions about the future of democratic principles, institutional integrity, and the endurance of checks and balances.

A New Chapter in American Democracy?

America’s emergence as a quasi-constitutional monarchy is a notable evolution in its political narrative. While retaining its democratic roots, the nation now explores a governance model that reflects its heritage in unexpected ways. This hybrid structure, underscored by popular support and executive immunity, may redefine the American experience in governance, offering a new lens through which the country navigates its identity, sovereignty, and future.
