The landscape of leadership is constantly evolving. However, kindness is one vital component often ignored. It might not be the 1st characteristic that comes to anyone's mind but creating a culture of kindness is very important especially when dealing with unique qualities & expectation of new generations. Kindness is fundamental concept of inclusive leadership which helps to build innovative & collaborative work culture. It involves demonstrating compassion, thoughtfulness, and care towards others, without anticipating any personal gain in return.
Kindness is one aspect which can't fake it. Kindness has to come from authenticity & genuineness. As a leader we first have to believe that kindness is good for our team & us, that only will result in making teammates' lives better.
Our team looks up to us for support, not only for work related stuffs but also for some issues going on their personal lives which can impact their work. Kindness is being supportive without being judgmental.
Being an HR, for me it is not necessary that I will be everyone's "confidant". But still being an leader I need to make sure my team & each employee can count on me. Our relations with team & the influence we have on our team is based on trust, Not the power we carry with our designations. Building & maintaining the trust is the key to add a spice of kindness.
