"The Kindness Habit" Changing to "The Kindness Experience."

"The Kindness Habit" Changing to "The Kindness Experience."

!!BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!

This is the last issue of The Kindness Habit Newsletter.

Starting next week the name will be changed to The Kindness Experience Newsletter.

Why the change? People love personally inspiring stories that evoke positive feelings.

As a kindness advocate, my greatest desire is to inspire as much kindness in the world as I possibly can. Why? Kindness is love in action and the world needs love as much now as it has ever needed it in all of history.

In my own experience, I've come to realize that my thoughts, feelings, knowledge and understanding are directly impacted by what I see personally, and what I hear or read about from others.

My objective is and has always been to inspire greater kindness in the world. I find that I am most inspired to be kind when I see and experience kindness personally, whether giving or receiving it, and when I hear or read about the kindness experience of others. It is those experiences that open my heart and mind to feel love for others and feel loved myself, to feel happy, hopeful, encouraged, valued and appreciated. It is those feelings that cause kindness experiences to be etched deeply, in what I call my heart memory, and enable me to, when I recall them years later, have the feelings I previously experienced resurface as if the experience has just occured.

The goal with this change is to share stories of inspiring kindness experiences that will touch hearts, change minds, and ultimately change lives as people are inspired to pay kindness forward.

So here's a question for you.

Have you had an experience with kindness that you'd like me to share in The Kindness Experience? I would love to hear from you. Please email me at [email protected].

The Kindness Experience - Meme

A few weeks ago my daughter felt a nudge to send a text to her friend Mary (name changed) to let Mary know that she is loved and that my daughter was glad to be her friend.

My daughter responded to the nudge, sent the message, and went on with her day. A little while later she got a text message back from Mary that said something like this. "Thank you for sending that message. I needed it. I was thinking about taking my life today. I said a prayer asking God that if I am still supposed to be here, send me a sign. Almost immediately, I got your text message. I feel better now."

That is a simple experience with kindness, that has a powerful message. Multiple lives have been impacted because of it.

Can you imagine how happy my daughter was to get that message and know that she had been instrumental in helping Mary advert what would have been a very permanent solution to a short term problem. Think too about how glad she was that she listened to that little nudge, that inner voice that prompted her to send the message. How do you think that will impact her with regards to paying attention to those nudges in the future? That's one life powerfully impacted.

Of course, Mary's life was powerfully impacted. She chose not to go through with her intent to take her life. She knew that some one cared. Her personal belief in God was strengthened. Her appreciation for my daughter and their friendship grew.

My life was changed. When my daughter shared what had happened with me, my heart swelled with gratitude on multiple fronts.

First I was so grateful to know that my daughter was sensitive enough to feel the nudge and caring enough to act on it. I was so very proud of her!

Second, I was grateful to know that Mary was safe.

Third, I re-assessed my own sensitivity to those nudges and redoubled my efforts to make sure I act on thoughts and promptings to do little things that could make a difference. That in and of itself has already borne fruit in personal experiences with kindness since then which are stories for another time.

Now, after reading that story, your lives will be impacted and, hopefully, your desire to pay better attention to and act on those nudges will increase!

That is the power of kindness!

Until next time. Remember to embrace kindness. It does everybody good!
