Are These The Kinds Of Things Stopping You From Launching Your Online Coaching Business?

A recent discussion with a new client about how to get started as an online coach brought back a whole sway of memories and feelings I experienced when I was in the early stages of my coaching business.

Just like my new client I had a burning desire to coach others, specifically to coach others who wanted to be a coach.

Looking back a that time, I had such an intense feeling of agitation and urgency that this was something that I must do, and could do.

But at the same time I also experienced accompanying feelings of confusion and frustration because there were so many unanswered questions buzzing around in my head.

Questions like:

  • How should I start?
  • Where should I start?
  • Did I need any special qualifications to do this?
  • Should I do more courses and training before I start?
  • Is there a demand for what I want to teach?
  • What's the best way to teach clients?
  • How will I get clients?
  • What sort of clients should I try to attract?
  • Can I make enough money from my coaching?
  • What will clients think if they find out I'm new at doing this?
  • etc, etc

It was a crazy time for me, full of uncertainty, but I got through it, eventually, and learned a lot in the process!

If you're considering launching your own online coaching business, are these the kinds of thoughts, feelings and questions you're having right now?

Are these the kinds of things that are stopping you in your tracks from launching your own online coaching business?

If so, let me give you some tips that will help provide some of the answers to those questions you have, and to help you work through this confusion you're experiencing.

1. Decide who your ideal client, or target audience is

2. List 5 problems you think your target client group is having that your coaching can help with

3. List 5 solutions to those problems that your coaching can provide right now

4. Pick the one problem that you believe is most urgent for your ideal client right now, and the associated solution you can help them with

5. Write a statement what your coaching program is about...briefly describe the coaching do you provide, explain who this is specifically for and the problem they are experiencing, and what the result is that you are promising with your coaching

6. Start to make a list of the key topics or key pieces of content that you will need to teach those clients that will help them achieve their desired result or outcome

7. For each key topic, or piece of content begin to list the key points you will need to teach for that topic

8. Decide on the tools and process you will use to teach this content

9. Start creating your teaching content

Implement those steps and I can guarantee you will begin to have the clarity and sense of purpose that will help you begin to make a reality of your dream to set yourself up as an online coach who is making a positive difference in the lives of your clients.
