World Suicide Prevention day is commemorated on 10th September every year. World Population review ranks Kenya at position 114 among 175 countries with the highest suicide rate. In addition, Kenya's suicide rate is at least 6.5 suicides per 100,000 people.
We may not know what to look out for - what the triggers are, the nuances or even who... Those afflicted are among us. Suicide is preventable - it is NOT inevitable (WASP) I commemorate this day with a simple reminder... #Bekind.
To Business Owners/Leaders Excuse me! I urge you to remember that business owners/leaders are tasked with securing the bottom-line of the business entities that fuel the economy. They are expected to make profit, to innovate, to find solutions, create value, keep you productive, keep you safe, and pay you. Their shoulders are laden and their plates are full - they too get overwhelmed, they too get weary #Bekind.
"Even the strongest hands can lose their grip, the greatest of minds can become cloudy, and the biggest of hearts can break, so, Be Kind... always Be Kind"
The Jobless Hey! The unemployment numbers are at an all-time high and still climbing. Consider this when grumbling about a tight deadline, complaining about Zoom meetings and moaning about your working hours to your buddy who was just laid off. Be thankful, be considerate, be observant #Bekind
The Job-seeker Ignoring calls from individuals who are looking for an opportunity or setting up interviews or even sending out RFP (request for proposal) for jobs that have already been filled, not to mention ghosting those prospecting and not responding to emails and other written attempts to reach out is not nice. Say No! That is feedback! #Bekind
Those Thriving It is true that not everyone is having a tough time. Some individuals and business are flourishing! They are posting better results, have found new purpose, discovered new revenue streams, things are good, business is booming! Don't let envy consume you - it is corrosive... instead cheer their success #Bekind

Nuevo Entrepreneurs In Kenyan speak, they are also known as Hustlers. The people who have picked up consulting, those who have fallen back on their talents and are cooking, tailoring or creating, those who have started an online shops to make ends meet. The phrase is "respect the hustle" #Bekind
The Depressed It is very difficult to navigate the various stresses that eventually lead to this diagnosis. A good number of our colleagues, friends, family have been walking around carrying some form or other of depression. It could present as anxiety, social withdrawal, fatigue or sadness... Hence why it is important to #Bekind
The Sick The body is vessel. The foundation, the conduit for the physicality that make it possible for anyone to perform tasks that mesh together as a body of work - ideation, creation, execution... All this stops when you get sick - when your body fails you. With sickness comes a sense of defeat, of helplessness, of frustration of being immobile #Bekind to those who are unwell.
The Grieving #Bekind to those who are grieving. Grief is a personal crisis that is experienced in the public realm. Be there. They may need money, they may need guidance, they may need prayers. Above all else, they need fortitude. A sense of security. Presence. Grieving is a process - it requires time, it requires patience.
To Yourself We are all in the playing field of this thing called life #Bekind to yourself.
