The kind of manager who delivers outstanding performance

The kind of manager who delivers outstanding performance

We often say that a sales team reflects its manager.

Many studies prove this point. For instance, a salesperson who switches from one manager to another becomes a top performer almost magically.

As a manager, your role in developing your sales team and how they perform is crucial. To have a high-performing team that sticks around, you need to lead by example.

To put it simply, to develop top performers, you need to be a top manager.

So, we spoke to Sales, Customer Success, and Account Managers to find out what makes a top manager.

If you're a regular reader of the newsletter, you'll definitely relate to the following qualities. ??

You're always recruiting.

As a manager, your job is to elevate your team's skills. However, you know the drill: when you're the best in your team, it's time to change teams... That's why it's important to maintain a pool of candidates to minimize the impact of departures on the team's results.

You're in the field.

To be a great sales manager, you need to be a great salesperson. The two go hand in hand. Like an athlete, you need to keep practicing to stay sharp. Spending some time selling helps maintain your expertise and keep in touch with your client base.

At Modjo, managers' expertise is directly utilized in two ways: during client crisis situations and mid-funnel opportunities.

In the first case, they step in to handle the situation.

In the second, they work to maximize the conversion rate of opportunities and support their team when they can still make a difference.

You spend over half your time coaching your team.

Let's agree, sales coaching isn't about teaching.

It's about guiding, aimed at developing or reinforcing skills. It's not just about passing on knowledge. But of course, sharing past experiences is a great way to connect, especially if the context allows.

Implementing personalized sales coaching is a game-changer. After reviewing calls to identify best practices and areas for improvement, you dedicate time to each team member. This one-on-one time is essential for your sales team's development but can sometimes be tough to fit into your schedule. Top managers are often really busy. ??

Equip yourself with the right tools to maximize your time and dedicate the necessary time to your teams. Turn to sales enablement to help unleash your team's sales potential.

We're hosting a one-hour live conference on the topic. You'll hear about the challenges and best practices from four industry experts who will, of course, answer your questions. Join us on Wednesday, December 6th from 7 pm to 8 pm! ????

You're an inspiration for success!

A top manager isn't just a boss – they're a leader who motivates and guides their team toward shared goals.

Team motivation relies on clarity, a shared vision of success, and positive energy every day.

It might seem obvious, but many managers overlook the fact that everyone is motivated differently.

Great managers take the time to understand each team member and tailor their approach based on their individual personality, whether introverted or extroverted.

You work closely with other departments.

Nice read. There are a few of us who have felt the magic of a salesperson turning into a top performer with a change in management. Diving into the heart of team dynamics, the correlation between a manager's style and sales success is not a top of mind for every org these days. Rather than just relying on managerial acumen, I've seen success often depending on collaborative team efforts. Exposing the entire team to ''What Good Looks Like''.
