KIND Email Paying Homage to LGBTQ Movement with Pride Light Installation

KIND Team,

Pride has felt a little different this year. Remembering how the LGBTQ movement started and the continued call for intersectional justice has never been more important.

This weekend, we will be honoring the movement’s first trailblazers (many of whom are transgender people of color) while acknowledging the work that still needs to be done. In partnership with the Ali Forney Center, the nation’s largest organization dedicated to helping protect LGTBQ youth from the harms of homelessness, we will be placing a rainbow light installation in the heart of the West Village. This installation will serve as tribute to the cancelled Pride Marches around the world and pays homage to the LGBTQ rights movement.

The lights will go live this Saturday around sunset (~9:45 pm) and be visible through early Sunday morning. If you live in Manhattan, you should be able to see the lights by looking up at the sky in the direction of the West Village. See below for an image that we took at a site test earlier this week.

We will also be hosting a livestream at kindsnacks.com/pride-lights.html, starting on Saturday evening. We hope you’ll tune in!

Additionally, as Mike shared earlier this month, this year marks the first time that our special-edition PRIDE Bars are available in-store (in addition to kindsnacks.com). Check out some placements in Wegmans and Duane Reade attached! 100% of net sales from this bar will be donated to the Ali Forney Center.
