Kilo Outsider | Changing Course and Growing

Q2 marked significant changes for Kilo Health — with a brand new CEO, ambitious new targets, and exciting new goals. This quarter was focused a bit more on learning and growing and remained full of professional excitement.

We attended conferences, nurtured our culture, showcased our working hub, and didn’t forget to include some AI themes here and there.

Let’s get right into it.

Zygimantas Surintas taking over Kilo Health

Back in April, after a decade of being the leader of Kilo Health, Tadas Burgaila stepped into the role of Head of the Growth Department. At the same time, ?ygimantas Surintas , with over 16 years of experience managing the skies of aviation as CEO and board member of SmartLynx Airlines, a subsidiary of Avia Solutions Group, has joined Kilo Health as its CEO and board member.

“Kilo Health is a non-traditional startup that has been profitable since day one. To ensure continued growth, expand our product range, and enter new markets, we plan to implement new efficiency principles — actively integrating artificial intelligence and reducing hierarchy levels. These changes will help the group of companies transition to a new stage of maturity and adapt to the post-COVID competitive landscape,” says Surintas.

It’s been a few months, and Kilo Health has been focusing on being HealthTech leaders and the best place for people to grow and evolve.

Visitors and events at our headquarters

Open House Vilnius , themed "People Creating the Town," took place in May, and visitors explored our unique Aludariai working hub. Everyone was welcome, and we had a blast!

Did you know that our headquarters is a piece of industrial architecture with a long brewing history? It was one of the three largest breweries in Vilnius in the 19th century, known first as "?openo" and later as "Tauro." Built in 1865, it has been expanded and renovated over the years.

We make use of our unique space not only for working but also for organizing fun activities and get-togethers. One such event was the Urban Lot, where we turned our parking lot into an open-air skatepark. Focused on street culture enthusiasts, we hosted this in collaboration with the Boardsports skatepark, the Lithuanian BMX Bicycle Association, and other friends.

Attendees had the chance to witness pro performances and tournaments featuring top skateboarders and BMX cyclists and even try out the ramps themselves. Pretty interesting, right?

Attending conferences and helping young entrepreneurs

Speaking of conferences, knowledge sharing, and showcasing our expertise, our Kilo Health people have been active this quarter.

Toms Zālmanis , Head of Health Category, took the stage to discuss AI and home healthcare. He covered everything about being a patient of AI, from data security challenges to the benefits of advanced technology.

“Virtual assistants, remote monitoring, and predictive analytics — they're the tools that let you take charge of your health from the comfort of your couch,” says Zālmanis.

But he wasn’t the only one speaking at LOGIN. Vitalijus Majorovas , the co-founder of Pulsetto, also took the stage to talk about longevity, the electric stimulation market, and the future of these devices.

“Neuromodulation, like electrostimulation devices, is a perfect alternative to medical drugs because there are no addictions or side effects. There’s a large market for this, including deep brain stimulators, spinal cord stimulators, and non-invasive stimulators like Pulsetto,” he explained.

He believes that while supplements are widely used now, soon everyone will start using electrostimulators.

Moving on from LOGIN, we had other opportunities for knowledge sharing. “Future Heroes” is a growth mindset-based leadership and entrepreneurship program by WoW University for girls aged 14–17, aiming to unlock their potential and create a positive impact on the world.

Kilo Health supports this initiative, and our Chief People Officer, Ilona Bernotaite , served as a judge for the young female pitches. As Bernotaite herself says:?

“At Kilo Health, we believe in empowering young women to reach their full potential and make a difference. It was amazing to see their creativity and passion up close. Some of their business ideas were very similar to the products we have in the Kilo Health portfolio, and we are happy to mentor them further and support their entrepreneurial journey.”

Besides, these young entrepreneurs will be visiting our Kilo Health headquarters for further inspiration.

Talking about AI

"The future is now. Are you part of it? If you still answer 'no', you're the second candidate in line,” says Ieva Bruk?tut? , Head of Recruitment at Kilo Health.

This is the new reality that Ieva was trying to explain at her Litexpo career conference. Although discussions about AI are widespread in businesses, some people still see AI as either a threat or unnecessary in their workflow.

"30% of work tasks in many professions will be automated by 2030. And, for instance, it’s worth noting that the main benefits of working with AI are speed, efficiency, more calculated decisions, less monotony in tasks, more space for creativity, an ability to create new products, technologies, and services, as well as innovative solutions in many industries," she explains.

She also offers some tips on how to get acquainted with AI more easily:

"Focus on the application areas of AI. Keep up with the latest news, like 'The AI Exchange newsletter'. Follow experts such as Matt Wolfe. Additionally, don’t hesitate to experiment — use it to search for information, fact-check, and add some weight to your arguments.”

If are still trying to get used to AI, our AI Experimentation Lead, Deividas Norkūnas , also revealed some important insights about AI-related roles in the market, the benefits and downsides of using AI, and what security precautions businesses should take.

“As time progresses, it becomes increasingly possible to integrate AI into every company, regardless of the niche. Sure, there might be certain areas where AI isn't as advanced and challenging to use, but that's just a matter of time (I'm talking months, not years),” he says.

If you missed it, here’s the blog post.

Overall, our goal is always to make the most of the changes within the business. In the next quarter, we hope to continue growing and learning while enjoying the warm weather outside. That's what we wish for you too!

See you in the next newsletter.
