Killer advice from a Headhunter.

Being sentient, we as humans are gifted, or cursed depending on your perception, of being aware of our thoughts and our existence. We don't just possess the ability to express emotions, we possess the knowledge that we are expressing, whether on purpose or otherwise.

Obviously there is a long grocery list of ramifications to this chapter in our evolution, but there is one in particular that I believe truly sets us apart from our cousins in the animal kingdom. That differentiation is the simple act of making a "Promise". 

A promise can be made either to yourself, or to another person or organization. Regardless though, a promise is something that embodies an exceptional amount of thought, consequence and commitment.

One of the key definitions of a promise is that of it being a "Declaration". I harken-back to a little document that was thrown together back in 1776 and is arguably one of the most important promises ever made between a group of people. I am of course referring to "The Declaration of Independence". 

Covet your sentience and all that goes with it, especially your ability to make and keep a promise. Promises can be stronger than diamond while at the same time, weaker than an egg shell. Do not make them lightly and demand accountability for the declarations that are made to you.
