Killer advice from a Headhunter.

I had a chat with a good friend of mine yesterday when he was trying to kill an hour. One of his meetings had cancelled and he was left with some time to himself with nothing to do. He was literally perplexed at the notion that there was a one-hour slot in his day that he had completely to himself, with no obligations.

This got me thinking about how rare it is for most of us to allocate time on a regular basis that is exclusively and selfishly ours. It also occurred to me that there tends to be a social stigma attached to people that are capable of doing things alone. What thoughts cross your mind if you see a person sitting in a movie theater alone or having dinner alone? 

Herein is the challenge. Decide on an interval and create time that belongs solely to you. Embrace that time and ignore whatever stigma's there may be and go do something with yourself. Go to a mid-week, mid-day movie and buy a huge bag of popcorn with candy and soda. Grab a seat dead center and bask in the glory of the experience.

I believe you'll find that the cathartic investment will impact many other facets of your life.
