Killer advice from a Headhunter.

Killer advice from a Headhunter.

Today marked day 2 of JK for my 4 year-old son. While yesterday's drop off went quite well, today was a much different story. He was completely distraught and I left him in his teachers hands, screaming for "Papa" to come back. Needless to say, my son's tears impacted me in a huge way.

But thanks to a special friend of mine, I was able to view his tears and sadness in a much different light. Starting school and growing the ability to learn and nurture new concepts and skills, is a critical part to a child's life. And in fact, withholding those experiences by keeping them at home as long as possible, is actually in the end, a disservice to the child.

So this got me thinking on a macro level.

How many relationships do each of us have, whether personal or professional, where our own emotional response degrades the experience of the person or business we are involved in? Or even worse than the actual emotional response, what about the impact of the fear of the impending emotional response?

Perhaps we limit the growth of a person or of a business, because we are scared to feel something that comes from that experience and in the end, we stifle the growth of that person or business. It's certainly not always easy to be pragmatic, but I have realized that it is possible, even when possessing a very strong emotional connection.

Nicely said, Carl. Self-awareness can be very difficult, but it always leads to better perspectives. From those come better decisions.

VERY WELL SAID, I think it has to do with "Change" and our regular routines. For Children and Adults this is something we need to work towards, change is good for everyone, but many are scared of the unknown. Cheers too making positive changes in our lives, and sticking too them.
