Kill the chill.
The Mother of Dragons recently shared a post on her Instagram arguing that 2021 should be less about resolutions and more about “breathing.” The New Yorker offered similar advice: let back on the pressure, lower your standards.
Where does this stop? Is it okay if I don’t shower or clip my son’s fingernails?
It’s been an incredibly hard year and 2021 will be, too. By now, we all have experienced negative consequences of Covid-19 restrictions or know someone that has suffered or died from it. Still, going through a pandemic is not a reason to raise a white flag and surrender. Not to joy, not to effort, and not to the basic principles that will keep us healthy. Living through a pandemic is a reason to take our health more seriously than ever. The trend of “relax and take it as it comes” cannot be laziness masked by Covid-19. While we can’t predict when a new variant from Covid-19 will hit, or if tie-dye is coming back, we can predict that we will all want better chances at surviving the struggle.
A healthier lifestyle will get us readier to continue fighting from within. February can still be considered the beginning of a new year and that’s a great time to start a habit according to experts like Daniel Pink, Nir Eyal, or James Clear. With an amazing team of seasoned Registered Dietitians, Chefs, and Personal Trainers from Nutrition Geeks @Microsoft, we are launching the “Kill the Chill 7-week challenge” in February to help us be healthier, one bite-sized challenge at a time. To get a head start, read these 3 tips to start a healthier 2021 by my colleague and Registered Dietitian, Emily Fish. Kill the chill and remember: if everything else is changing, you can, too.
