FOR THE KIDS: Theatre for Every Child to make shows more accessible

“Despite the amazing work that theatres do up and down the country, access is not equal”

Launched by The Society of London Theatre & UK Theatre , its sister organisation, this new culture-focused initiative will give children the chance to experience theatre before leaving education. The goal is to support low-income families who, as a result of the cost-of-living crisis, are struggling more than ever to access after school activities for their kids.

Ahead of the 2024 General Election, theatre organisations are asking politicians to support additional funding for the campaign, which will offer one free visit to a show for every child. Claire Walke is co-chief executive of SOLT and UK Theatre: “We believe every child has the right to experience and enjoy our country’s world-leading theatre.”

Fozia N. is both a head teacher and a member of The Birmingham Hippodrome Education Network, a group which consists of 44 economically and culturally deprived schools in Birmingham. Also a mother, Nisar told TheTicketBusinessNews that “the key to unlocking minds is through artistic exposure”, and expressed how it’s “fundamental to a child’s emotional journey and senses” to explore this in the “safety of a theatre platform”.

If you host events and you’d like to give back to charitable bodies that support theatre and the arts, then look no further. We will donate to a cause of your choosing with every ticket sold through the Ticketpass platform.
