Kids Meal? Hey Airlines, what I really need is a Parents meal!!!
I am reposting this now that traveling abroad has increased
Several years ago I flew to Europe with my wife, 1 year old and 4 year old and was surprised by the meal service.?No, I am not going to complain about the quality of the meal, it's a challenging environment and airlines do their best.?I was super impressed with the wide range of special meal options (Vegetarian, Kosher, Kids meal etc) and thought this was a great example of customer focus and adapting to customer needs.?I ordered the kids meal(chicken nuggets) and my 4 year old ate it, Great job.

What wasn't so great was my meal.?It looked awesome and had no less than 4 main components and a plethora of extras. Oil and vinegar dressing, butter, salt and pepper , drink, coffee cup , bread all individually wrapped and ready for me to use.?The entrée was piping hot, I mean nuclear hot and all was arrange Bento box style.?Everything looked awesome.
?So what was the problem? Normally I am low maintenance but on an 8 hour flight I do need to eat. If you travel with a one year old you get to save the price of a ticket and they sit on your lap which takes a portion of the already limited room between me and seat in front of me, making meal time a challenge.?I put my engineering degree to the test and tried to figure out how I could possibly, sort, unwrap, cut and eat my meal while having a 1 year old on my lap.?Actually most of my energy went to keeping my child from touching that nuclear hot main entrée.?So I though what I really need is a Parent's meal!?Skip all the sauces , appetizers and salads, I just need a Protein bar and a Smoothie, stuff I could eat with one hand!
