Memo: Insights, Innovations, and ICT Budget Priorities: Driving Kenya's Digital Evolution, Presented to the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA).
Kenya's digital economy is being propelled by the growing ICT sector, boosting internet access, mobile money usage, and infrastructure spending. Government programs like Konza Technopolis foster the establishment of tech startups, spurring employment creation and economic expansion. Notwithstanding advancements, issues including the digital divide in rural regions, a lack of skilled labor, and worries about cybersecurity and data privacy still exist. At a pre-budget hearing on January 30, 2024, KICTANet recently gave a memorandum detailing budget goals for the ICT industry. The organization argued for increased monitoring and investment to overcome these problems and maintain the sector's momentum.

Research: Upholding Civic Freedoms: Assessing Counter-Terrorism Measures in Kenya.
Government persecution of civil society movements is increasing across the globe, irrespective of political environments, about fundamental democratic values like freedom of expression and association. Kenya is not an exception, as these difficulties have a major influence on the country's security laws and institutions. Researchers from KICTANet, Haki Africa, and CHRIPs participated in a panel discussion that ARTICLE 19 sponsored with funding from The Fund for Global Human Rights to assess the effects of counterterrorism and violent extremism prevention initiatives on Kenyan civic space. Released on January 31, 2024, KICTANet's most recent report, "Surveillance Laws and Technologies Used in Countering Terrorism and their Potential Impact on Civic Spaces, " examines these concerns to promote greater accountability and the maintenance of an open civic space free from unwarranted restrictions under the guise of security.
