Kickstart Your Career
Great news, recent grads! Your skills are in high demand. Employers plan to hire almost 30% more new graduates this year vs. 2021. And we’ve seen close to a 17% increase in entry-level job postings on LinkedIn compared with the same time last year. The upshot: It’s an ideal time for anyone entering the workforce to kickstart their job search.
To help you navigate the plethora of opportunities, we’ve created a go-to resource:?LinkedIn’s 2022 Guide to Kickstarting Your Career . This guide is jam-packed with valuable insights, including which entry-level jobs and industries are most in-demand right now, the best cities and industries for those just starting out and more.
Put Your Skills to Work
Hirers care about your skills. Over 40% of companies on LinkedIn globally rely on skills to search and identify job candidates on LinkedIn (up 20% year-over-year). Additionally, they want to know where and how you’ve used your skills. In fact, 75% of hirers globally believe context into how a skill was used is important.
You can now tie skills directly to an experience or a job on your Profile, showing employers what you can do and the value you can bring to their organization. Then, when you search for jobs on LinkedIn, we’ll show you roles that are a strong match based on how your skills line up with those listed in job descriptions.
It’s more than just adding skills. When you add context you can really put your skills to work.

Leo’s Story
Upon returning to the office for the first time since March 2020,?Leo D. Curran ?(He/They) shared about their medical transition and the anxieties that emerged around bringing their trans identity to the workplace. In a reflective post,?Leo writes , “My colleagues have adjusted to the name and pronoun change and the lower voice, even the advocacy for trans folks, but it’s another thing to share physical space…I am grateful for that joy and acceptance, even if the underlying anxieties are true. Wishing everyone traipsing back to an office a return that feels safe and more joyful than not.”
