Every valuable thing we have brings meaning to us: our relationships, mindset, perspective towards life, etc. However, there is something more precious and irreplaceable. It can bring us significant gain with fortune and take us forward, and that's #time

So how do we make the most of the time given to us?

If our job profile requires no interaction with people and only demands data entry, it is easy to go about our day. With nobody to hinder us, we can do all the tasks in front of our computer. But our real jobs require us to work with teams and collaborate. We can lose our day if we don’t have a method to follow through. And that’s why we need to learn about crucial tools to manage our time and energy.

Plan your work, Work your Plan. Whenever you plan something, mark your calendar. Next, make a to-do list weekly and plan when you will do that task. It gives a rough sketch of how your day’s schedule is going to be for the coming week. Be mindful of your plans for the week before assigning a time slot to your to-do list. Planning can save you time and tell you whether an item on your list needs immediate attention.

Task prioritising method derived from the Eisenhower principle known as the urgent and essential matrix, in which you can label your task as critical and vital (generally during a crisis), Non-urgent and necessary (for goals and planning), urgent and not significant (for interruptions) and not urgent and not needed (for distractions).?

Critical – Important tasks are unavoidable and occupy most of our day, while Important non-urgent tasks help us grow in our workplace, fulfilling our long-term missions and goals.

Our job is to recognise these tasks, label them and prioritise them accordingly. Prioritising tasks will help you make the most of your day and discipline you to finish your work on time and bring you closer to your goals.

Use The 60-30-30 Rule of Productivity:

  1. Prioritise the three most important tasks for the day. Then take the most crucial time-consuming task and try to finish it in 60 minutes without distractions, in a closed room, with no mobile phones, in absolute silence.?
  2. After 60 minutes, take a 5-minute break, and then go for the following two critical tasks in batches of 30 minutes each. First,? It ensures that a job is completed and a daily goal is achieved periodically.

Quality work is only given birth if it is done with total concentration and without distractions; multitasking robs away quality. Furthermore, studies have proven that multitasking causes more errors and makes a person inefficient in the long run.

If you are a creative person or someone who experiences burnout, then the Pomodoro method may work wonders for you too. This method believes in chunking time for better continuity and increasing quality through concentrated processes.?

Aeons ago, I read a book by Brain Tracey called Eat that frog, the concept is to finish the most dreadful task at the beginning of the day, and the rest of the day will be peaceful and fruitful. So, I followed that method, relieving me of so much anxiety. I would list my daily tasks and prioritise my most challenging task in the first two hours of my workday. Then, it will leave enough room for a relaxed working experience, and I will be done with crucial tasks since they are time-consuming and difficult.

Every time management strategy has two things in common: prioritising tasks and avoiding distractions. However, the human brain works on the reward principle, and there is an emotional boost with every achievement. It is because of the feel-good dopamine released in the midbrain area. So, let's tap into how our mind works and let us finish all our tasks in the given timeframe. The more we respect time, the more milestones we can achieve and the happier we become.

Great article Pravin! Eat that Frog book is already on my book shelf, next one on the list :) Picking up on the thoughts in your article, productivity is when we create a domino effect on what needs to be done, not about how many tasks we actually take off the list.
