Kicking off: EU U-Space Demonstrator Network

Today the first plenary meeting of the EU U-space Demonstrator Network took place in the beautiful Eurocontrol central aula "Europa". Many thanks for hosting us !

DG Move welcomed the participants and emphasized the value of the demonstrator network for the legislative work that is ongoing.

Representatives from different stakeholder groups presented their demonstrator experience: Air Navigation Service Provider, Civil Aviation Authority, European Space Agency (ESA), Eurocontrol (about the U-Space webportal) and finally an interesting investor's standpoint.

Break away sessions gathered the concerns around four key topics that do interest the U-Space Demonstrators : (1) Technologies, (2) Legal Requirements, Risk Assessment, Authorizations, (3) Standards and (4) Operations. Feedback from the groups was presented to the plenary meeting.

Conclusion was that this meeting is a precedent for repetition and will be further supported by on-line collaboration tools.

Helicus was grateful to be part of this joint aviation stakeholder effort to built safe operations, preparing a bright UAV future. It is important to continue to meet and support other major contributors like: EASA, Skeyes, Unifly, Eurocontrol, NATS, DG Move, DFS and DGAC.
