Kicking Off 2018

2018 promises to be another busy year. I wanted to share a little bit of my agenda in the month ahead – and I hope you will stay tuned to future updates throughout the year.

This week I participated in a conference organized jointly by the Bundesbank and the IMF where we discussed fiscal policies and long-term sustainability in Germany and the Euro Area – read my new blog on “Three German Challenges with European Effect”. While in Germany, I will also have a chance to meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel, former colleague and friend Wolfgang Sch?uble, and acting Finance Minister Peter Altmaier.

From Berlin I will head to Davos where the World Economic Forum holds its 2018 Annual Meeting. This year I have the honor of being one of seven women co-chairs, a first for the WEF. On the first day of the WEF and in Davos, the IMF will launch our latest update of the World Economic Outlook, and share our analysis on the state of the global economy.

As soon as the WEF closes, I will travel to Morocco, where we will be hosting a conference on promoting growth, jobs, and inclusiveness in the Arab world.

I am looking forward to these events and hopefully finding ways to use this moment of global growth to help ‘repair the roof while this sun is shining’ and make the most of 2018.
