Kicking Goals for the Community

Kicking Goals for the Community

In a humble neighbourhood in Brisbane’s north, the team at Marchant United FC Inc. have been putting their best foot forward to make a difference in their local community. The soccer club established in Taigum back in 2016, has come a long way since their first year of operation and have been delivering strong scoreboard results as they have played their way through the Northside Soccer League competition over the past 5 years.

One of the club’s motives for ‘kick-starting’ a football club within their community was to provide an outlet that focussed on maintaining positive mental and physical wellbeing for men over the age of 45.?As a community-based club, the Marchant United club relies on player registrations, sponsorships and donations for their upkeep expenses and to continue their operations on the northside.

As a not-for-profit community-based organisation one of our central activities is to provide infrastructure and services for the community. The aim of the Club’s annual Community Grants Program is to provide financial, in-kind and fundraising opportunities to local community organisations that fulfil criteria.?

Recipients can be either local or regional individuals or community organisations, but they must demonstrate that they strengthen the communities in which they operate by making a valuable and long term sustainable contribution.

Kedron-Wavell is a proud supporter of the Marchant United crew through our 2020 Community Grants program. If you know of a Brisbane based community group on the northside who are seeking funding for a project they are working towards, please ensure to sign up to our 2022 Community Grants EOI list so we can contact you when applications open.
