How exciting are Apple product releases? On Thursday we found out about the new iPhone 16e which will add another option for a device that accesses Apple Intelligence. This week we give you some details on this new release, an introduction to the new Apple Invites app, information about our upcoming Apple Education Highlights Live Webinar, as well as information about the upcoming Apple Intelligence sessions being organised around the country!

Last week I was traveling the upper half of the North Island, from Whangarei to Taupo, visiting schools and running some of our programs. Make sure you take a look at our 'one pager' of things we can help with, there are many opportunities for schools to develop with their Apple technology and we're here to help.

As always, let us know if you'd like support and have a great week ahead.

?? New Apple Device - iPhone 16e

Last week Apple announced the newest member of the iPhone family, the iPhone 16e! I am talking to more and more schools who are providing not only SLT but their teaching team with iPhones to use in class and the iPhone SE has been a popular choice for this.

Among some great features like a 48mp camera (great for photos of student learning and events) and a great small form factor, the new iPhone 16e has the new A18 chip capable of Apple intelligence. I’d be interested to talk with you if this could be a solution for your school, addressing the challenges around privacy and school data on personal devices.

Have a look at the new iPhone 16e here and let us know if you’d like to do a trial or place an order.?

?? Apple Invites - a new app!

Have you seen the new Apple Invites app, available on iPhone and iPad? This is a great way to create events to share with people, whether a personal event like a birthday party or a camping trip, but also a great way to share school events too.?

I've been exploring the app and used it to set up an Apple Teacher Bootcamp at a school last week. The pics below show the interface from your phone and then what this looks like through Safari on your Mac / iPad. Some of my favourite features are the ability to create a shareable public link, location and time, but also the shared photos folder for attendees.?

This links to your iCloud account (using Safari for example) and will show you the invites and even allow you to create your own events. How could you use this at your school? Could you create events for a teacher PL event or maybe a school sports day or excursion? Have a look and see how you can use this great new app.

?? Shared iPad

If you're sharing iPads between students in your classroom then you know that saving documents like Pages and Keynote files can be challenging. I often recommend schools strategise towards a 1:1 device ratio for their students. For those schools who aren't 1:1 but still want to have student's accessing their own content and preferences across devices the Shared iPad approach could be a way forward.

If you're interested in what this requires and also the opportunities it opens up, see this download link for a 'one pager' summary.?

If you'd like support to get this setup, we'd love to talk and see if this is a possible solution for you and your school.

Have you registered for the Apple Intelligence sessions being organised by Apple around the country? These events will take place in?Christchurch (Feb 28th),?Wellington (7th March)?and?Auckland (10th March). Here's the description of the event:

“Apple Intelligence and Education: A new era in innovation” is an introductory presentation that shares details on Apple Intelligence features and helps leaders and educators understand different ways it can be used in education.?

?? Parent / Family Information Session

Many schools are planning parents' and caregivers' evenings to discuss their BYOD and/or digital learning programs for the year. Here's a great resource by Julia Parker and Coby Reynolds, Apple Professional Learning Specialists, available on the Apple Education Forum, for you to download and adapt to suit your needs. It includes a useful Keynote template with information to help parents set up their Apple ID, personalise their iPad, and even create a suggested agenda for your meeting. Thanks for creating and sharing this, Julia and Coby!

You might also want to consider sharing this ‘Quick Guides for Learning with Apple’ PDF. It's another great resource to add value to your parent/caregiver evening.

ONE LAST THING!

That’s all for this week’s Apple Education Newsletter. Thank you again for your support and we’ll see you in the new year!
