The Keys To Unlocking Human Potential

The Keys To Unlocking Human Potential

In my early days leading teams and companies I made more mistakes than I could ever cover in a blog, podcast or newsletter.?

Yet one skill I struggled with most was the notion of accountability.?

When I gave directions, jobs weren’t done as desired. When I set context, why didn’t people have the same view of the world as me??

Why didn’t they get why I was asking them to do what we were doing—did they not realize it mattered? Worse, did they simply ignore me?

I wrote Strategies for Fostering Accountability and Transparency within Teams, to serve as a guide for leaders and team members alike to unlock their full potential by embracing responsibility and transparency for the mistakes, lessons and adaptations I’ve made to improve myself, and teams I work with.?

Accountability Is Not A Default, It’s A Setting

When individuals understand their responsibilities and the expectations set for them, it creates a culture of ownership and transparency.?

Setting clear expectations is identified as the cornerstone of accountability, leading to enhanced team dynamics and productivity.?

When team members have a crystal-clear understanding of their roles, responsibilities, and goals, it becomes easier for them to deliver.

Here’s how I do it, tell me what you think?

Unlocking Human Potential?

Building a culture of accountability and transparency is an ongoing process that requires commitment and dedication.

By establishing clear expectations, utilizing effective communication, leadership and team reflection as well as encouraging continuous learning, organizations can create an environment where accountability and transparency become the norm, not the exception.

The wasted time from misaligned expectations constantly makes me ask the question, “What if we have barely scratched the surface of human potential?”

According to Nichol Bradford, fellow faculty member at Singularity University, and a pioneer in technology and human transformation, we need to challenge the assumption that machines will surpass humanity and instead enhance our understanding of ourselves and our potential.?

Nichol has led operations for gaming giants like Activision Blizzard and Epic Games in China. She built communities in World of Warcraft that connected people globally through the power of shared narratives, understanding and collaboration—all digitally enhanced.?

Rather than viewing technology as dehumanizing, Nichol is exploring how it can empower self-actualization. Here’s our show on it—well worth a listen here..

Unlearning Fear

Similarly, how we embrace our emotions and fears can lead to genuine, lasting success.

Drewe Broughton – “The Fear Coach” – is a former professional footballer who now helps athletes and executives overcome obstacles and unlock their potential.

His approach involves guiding people to explore their true selves and confront difficult emotions like fear, shame and unlearn them.?

Drewe reflects on a pivotal moment in his life when he was in rehab, facing the truth about his struggles. He describes the moment of surrender and a sense of peace that washed over him as he acknowledged how unmanageable his life had become. “It was the first time I probably sat with that level of truth. And I remember an overwhelming sense of peace washed through me,”
