The Keys to Making a CBD Nanoemulsion
My name is Jinan Oubaid and I am an Applications Engineer at Brookhaven Instruments . I had the opportunity to work on a project with Paul Fabsits , our Global Sales Manager, where we created CBD nanoemulsions and measured particle size and zeta potential using the Brookhaven Instruments NanoBrook Series Instrument!
Through this experience, I realized a significant amount of trial and error was required to make the CBD nanoemulsions, especially since there is a plethora of ways a CBD nanoemulsion could be created. Using my experience, I wanted to highlight two key factors that I observed, which significantly influenced the particle size of the CBD nanoemulsions: temperature and sonication time.
It is essential that the CBD nanoemulsion remains between a ~55°C-65°C temperature throughout the process, including during ultrasonication. Too low of a temperature could result in large CBD nanoemulsion particles and too high of a temperature can affect the CBD potency.
Ultrasonication was performed using the 艾默生 Branson Digital Sonifier, which allowed us to establish the amplitude and time parameters for the runs. When making a CBD nanoemulsion, make sure to test various ultrasonic amplitudes and run times to optimize your procedure and result in CBD nanoemulsions with smaller mean diameter sizes!
Thank you Brookhaven Instruments for allowing me to share my experience!
