Keys to Achievement 5: Stick With Your Recipe

Life is not easy for any of us. But what of that? We must have perseverance and above all confidence in ourselves. We must believe that we are gifted for something and that this thing must be attained. - Marie Curie
It's been said that "there are many ways to skin a cat". Not so great news for the cat, but for us, it's a great reminder to stick with the habits that generate results, even if they are slightly different than others.
Today's day and age is all about improvement, optimization, enhancements, and efficiency. Every sales pitch tries to convince you that their product or service will get you to your goal better, faster, and more effectively than the other guy's.
While innovation is the mother of invention, too much focus on change and upgrades will be deadly to our personal daily productivity. We can spend so much time looking for the next best thing that we never get around to achieving anything. Sometimes the best thing we can do is to stick with the present formula that works and stop trying to improve it.
There is no plan B. It distracts from Plan A. - Will Smith
Take Kentucky Fried Chicken or McDonald's for example. Both franchises have grown into iconic, if not legendary status by sticking to the simple formula that people have grown to love. By doing so, they created a predictable product to which customers have become very loyal.
We all have gifts and abilities that are unique to us - designed by God and developed over time and practice. And they work. Those habits shape our unique personalities and perspectives and they make us highly effective. Like the Colonel and Ray Croc, once you identify your unique formula for success, stick with it and give your customers a chance to become loyal followers.
Are there areas of your personal or business life that you have been continually trying to improve? Has that search for the "next best thing" distracted you from truly engaging where you are, with what you have, to generate results? Are you missing out on opportunities because you're too busy searching for innovation.
Perhaps your recipe is good as it is. Perhaps all that's needed is for you to stop searching and start doing. In short, stick with your 'secret sauce'.
Give it a try and let me know how it goes! See you out there. - Rob
