  • EAMaven, Darrell Swanson, Strategic Advisor on Advanced Air Mobility- ‘Regional Air Mobility as enabled by Advanced Air Mobility’

Darrell Swanson of EAMaven focuses on mode choice demand modelling for AAM and the infrastructure requirements of electric aircraft. Darrell has established himself as a subject matter expert regarding electric aviation and how it will lead to a future of distributed aviation. At DroneX he will be talking about regional air mobility and how it will be enabled by advanced air mobility aircraft. The presentation will explore the RAM market and describe the upcoming publication of the UK Regional Air Mobility Index.

Darrell’s knowledge encompasses electric aircraft infrastructure requirements as well as defining market opportunities for emerging electric Low Cost Carriers (eLCCs).?He is an advisor to NASA’s Transformative Vertical Flight programme, The North Texas Council of Governments NASA AAM programme, the AAM panel at ADS Group, the Community Air Mobility Initiative and is a board member of the British Aviation Group.?Darrell has over 20 years of experience as an aviation consultant on airport master planning projects thru to airport acquisition advisory services.

  • Civil Aviation Authority, Mark Wharry, GA & RPAS Safety and Oversight Manager?- ‘UK RPAS - The Regulator's Perspective’

As the UK RPAS industry develops and grows, the CAA has the dual remit of ensuring it does so safely, while proactively and directly enabling the innovation the sector is known for. With technological change and development happening at a rapid pace, what is the safety regulator’s view on how to balance these requirements, integrate with traditional aviation, and truly open up the UK’s skies?

Mark Wharry will be giving you all of the answers, an RAF fast jet pilot and instructor for almost 20 years, he is the CAA’s most experienced RPAS pilot and is now the Safety and Oversight Manager for General Aviation and RPAS, leading teams of inspectors and surveyors who handle all external oversight for both communities.?

  • NATS Ltd, Mark Watson, Head of UTM Service Integration- ‘The Roadmap for BVLOS Operations in the UK’

NATS believes it has an achievable proposition for the near-term inclusion of regular and sustainable drone-based services in the UK skies. This presentation will describe some of the key building blocks of this and how we are collaborating with industry to bring this to life, to ensure the airspace is managed in a way that provides safe, fair, and equitable access for both new and existing airspace users.

Mark has worked for NATS for 30 years, for the last seven years, Mark has worked in the uncrewed aviation space, helping to bring together the new airspace user industry with the existing aviation industry. He is currently the head of UTM Service Integration, where he works with early innovators in the uncrewed aviation industry to help get them flying and to learn how NATS operations need to evolve to integrate them sustainably into the airspace.


  • EHang, Andreas Perotti, Chief Marketing Officer- ‘Advanced Air Mobility - The future of transport’

Andreas Perotti, Chief Marketing Officer, will be discussing Advanced Air being the next big thing in the mobility revolution. Drone technologies and autonomous systems for cargo and passenger transport will change how we live, work and travel in the 21st century.

Andreas has over a decade of extensive international marketing and communications experience with senior roles in the aerospace industry, government and telecom sectors, including the European Parliament, Ministry of Finance, Telekom Austria Group or FACC.


  • ARPAS-UK & Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, Graham Brown & Gordon Baker, CEO & Robotics and Autonomous Systems Lead?-?‘Achieving the UK''s drone ambition and some steps to achieve the potential’

This joint session will cover an update on the Drone Industry Action Group (DIAG) Ambition Statement and the work that is being carried out to achieve the potential in multiple industries. This will cover the current activities, developments and next steps in enabling technology, regulation, legislation and Government investment to achieve progress and business growth.

Graham Brown is CEO of ARPAS-UK which is the UK Drone Association and is the recognised not-for-profit Trade Association that represents the Drone Industry in the UK. He is also co-chair of the NPCC, a member of the UK Airspace Strategy Board, and a member of the Drone Industry Action Group. Prior to ARPAS Graham served as a director, CEO & Chairman of a wide range of international and British businesses in the technology, manufacturing, services, e-retail and financial services sectors including an FCA regulated company and member of the London Stock Exchange.?

Gordon Baker is the robotics policy lead for BEIS, supporting the development and adoption of new robotics solutions, including drones, across the UK economy. Gordon joined the DTI in 2004 and has held a number of roles including in: clean energy; SME and social enterprise policy; and science technology and business growth (including the joint BEIS/ Cabinet Office Challenger Business programme supporting technology-led innovators).?


  • Lilium, Colin Russell, Head of Safety- ‘Starting safely - developing Advanced Air Mobility together, openly and collaboratively’

Advanced Air Mobility is coming, and faster than any emergent sector before. Colin believes we have to share and learn together and that companies don't have the time nor the public appetite to learn through failure individually, nor to use the regulations alone to provide our protection.?

Colin is part of an exciting company developing the first electric VTOL jet. He is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the safety management systems and enabling the effective leadership of its safety performance.?After almost 20 years in the Royal Navy, he took his budding passion for safety leadership and culture into civilian life by helping teams perform safely across the aviation spectrum.

Colin is going to be telling us all about AAM and how active collaboration can improve the safety of this new emerging technology.??


Alan will be discussing the ins and outs of how Manna is transforming the delivery landscape using drones. Manna is the largest and most advanced Drone Delivery operation in Europe.

CTO of Manna Drone Delivery, Alan leads Manna's technology function and team and sets the direction and future vision of the platform. He is an experienced technology leader who specialises in distributed systems and Internet technologies. He has built and led distributed teams of engineers working on cutting-edge technology systems. In 2007 he joined CarTrawler, then a small company with just 25 people. He stayed with the business in a technology leadership role until 2019 at which point it had scaled to be the world''s largest online car rental distribution technology platform with more than 500 staff.


  • Thales UK, Julia Jiggins, Head of Strategic Marketing for Aviation & Space- ‘Accelerating the adoption of drone services at scale in the UK’

Through a combination of cutting-edge technology, proven expertise and game-changing collaboration, UAVs will become dramatically involved in every aspect of our lives. Whether getting medical supplies where they’re needed most or groceries onto doorsteps, UAVs will help individuals and organisations everywhere work faster, safer and better than ever before.

Julia Jiggins, Head of Strategic Marketing for Aviation & Space is responsible for developing Thales UK’s market opportunities for future aviation and space products and services across the whole of the aerospace and space environment. During her talk, she will ask us to imagine a future where manned and unmanned aircraft are trusted to co-exist safely in our skies.

Prior to joining Thales UK in 2008, Julia worked for Boeing UK for 6 years and was with the RAF for 13 years. Julia has a longstanding career in the aerospace and avionics industry, and is a senior specialist within the Thales UK business, with responsibility for civil aviation, drone, and space-related activities. Julia maintains various board memberships including Digital Aviation Research and Technology Centre (DARTeC), and has deep insights across the wider aviation ecosystems and industries.


  • PwC, Craig Roberts, Drone Lead- ‘Economic impact of drones on the UK economy’

Craig will be presenting PwC’s Skies Without Limits v2.0 report, which will give us an updated look at the potential impact of drones on the UK economy to 2030. He will cover drone impacts on GDP, cost savings and carbon emissions and discuss the barriers to unlocking the potential. The report was written in collaboration with BEIS and DfT and supports the Drone Ambition Statement.

Craig is a pioneer in the use of robots and drones to deliver step improvements in business performance. He is the former CEO of Mechanical Integrity Inc, a Texas-based inspection and robotics startup that he sold in 2010. Craig was CEO of globally leading drone service provider Cyberhawk during the formative years of the commercial drone industry (2012-2016), growing the company by 40% per year and closing equity and venture debt rounds. Now PwC''s Drones Lead, Craig is focused on delivering impactful consulting solutions for drones and advanced air mobility and on ensuring that PwC’s own drone use is innovative and effective. A trailblazer in the use of drones for audit, Craig has led multiple thought leadership initiatives including socio-economic analysis for the Future Flight Challenge and economic analysis of the impact of drones on the UK economy in collaboration with BEIS and DfT.


Panel

Inmarsat's Anthony Spouncer will lead a panel of scientists, engineers, and designers from across airspace management, technology, healthcare, and operators to discuss how unlocking access to BVLOS flight could be good of health.

As an experienced Senior Director, Anthony was initially responsible for the global execution and support of Inmarsat’s SwiftBroadband-Safety service. He now utilises his Communication, Navigation and Surveillance expertise to define and drive the Inmarsat Unmanned Aerial Systems strategy and product service roadmaps.

With a deep knowledge of Airline Engineering & Operations, as well as the current and evolving commercial air transport communications, air traffic control, and regulation landscape for manned and unmanned air vehicles. He is currently responsible for engaging the UAV ecosystem, UAV OEMs, regulators, distribution and User Terminal partners to evangelise the benefits of the next generation of satcom IP connectivity.

Ajay Modha leads ANRA's business in the UK and Europe and is an aerospace systems engineer with a background in business, technology strategy, helicopters and drones. Together with the ANRA team, he is helping to promote, build and deliver airspace management technologies for UAV and UAM, collaborating with industry, academia and standards organisations.?

Mariya Tarabanovska is a UAM advisor with a traditional Engineering education, she is extremely passionate about inspiring the next generations of professionals to consider a career in air mobility and has been a supporter of equality, diversity, and inclusion within aerospace through her various STE(A)M outreach positions. She has been recognized as a STE(A)M Ambassador and a female aerospace role model and has dedicated the past six years of her career to community engagement and industry advocacy.

Mariya is involved in shaping the fast-developing and very promising UAM ecosystem. Through her numerous involvements ranging from market research to flight testing and eVTOL implementation scenarios development, Mariya is now leading Flight Crowd, an open Urban Air Mobility community, set to educate the public on the topic of vertical mobility and inspire next generations to consider a career in future flight.

Harry Howe’s background started in healthcare, working on digital innovation projects within the NHS and private pharmaceutical companies, before making the leap to create his own drone software company. With this combined experience, Harry then went on to join Apian who are building products and platforms that connect the healthcare industry with the drone industry to improve patients’ health outcomes.
