The Key to Unlocking Amazing Word of Mouth
Since the beginning of the social web, marketers have been trying to figure out what it is that creates buzz online.
They've paid for it, they've offered up incentives for it, they've tried to engineer it with humorous and/or emotionally hijacking videos. However, none of these things contribute meaningfully to getting people to talk about your brand. We already know ONE factor that encourages word of mouth: remarkability. However, being remarkable ALONE isn't enough. You need to be remarkable to people who will spread the word.
Of course, this is where 'influencers' come into the equation. They have an audience, a bullhorn, and people trust them more than direct pitches from brands. But even working with influencers isn't as powerful as recommendations or word of mouth that travels between two connected people (friends, family, colleagues, associates, etc). And in those connections is the KEY to unlocking powerful word of mouth recommendations.
