Thank you for this article. A strategic agenda can be a challenge. In my consultancy work I have seen many boards where more time is spent on receiving and discussing reports from Committees and the CEO on what has happened since that last board meeting and less on forward looking items. The past is important as it helps in discussing the future. A guide of 80% of the agenda being forward looking is a good target. I think this is likely to be achieved if the focus is on the strategy and what needs to be done to achieve strategic initiatives in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment. Tools like AI are being deployed by some organizations to project the future. Of course a diverse board helps in having a healthy debate.
