Key to success = DO LESS

Key to success = DO LESS

I'm about to outrage a bunch of folks. I get it. You've spent your whole executive career (especially if you're a woman) trying to figure out how to do more, be more, cover more, impact more, squeeze in more, handle more, juggle more, while also trying to sleep more, exercise more, and spend more time with your kids, your spouse, or your aging parents. No wonder we are burnt out! Burned out? Whatever the grammar, you know what I mean. (I looked it up and technically both are correct).

You are in back-to-back meetings all day, barely any time to breathe, grab a bite of your salad, run to the restroom. There is literally no more space in your day to add in a dental-floss width of anything more. Something's gotta give.

Hence my post today.

The key to success is to do less.

You heard me. I said what I said.

Just stop.

Set boundaries.

Say no. Powerfully, so you're heard.

Let go of things.

Give things up.

Remove things from your schedule.

Shorten those meetings to half their scheduled time.

Quit something.

Delegate all you can that does not require you and only you to do it.

Reclaim your energy, reclaim your calendar, reclaim your space, reclaim your mind.

Stop the juggle.

It's okay.

Let something fall through the cracks.

Get back to basics. Focus on your key strategic relationships, your vision for your career, the work that fuels you and gives you purpose, the tasks that give you energy, and the people that give your life meaning.

You can cancel things.

You can undo commitments.

You can create space to breathe.

Shift your internal mantra from "I'll get it done" to "less is best".

I know you've heard it before: If everything is important, then nothing is.

YOU decide what's important. Own your career. Own your time. Own your calendar. Own your mind. Own your power.

You've got this.

Manage your energy not your time....

This is ?? accurate!! I’ve been practicing elimination of tasks and doing less and surprisingly I get more creative, make more time for myself and loved ones and opportunities keep coming my way. My friend, Denise Gosnel, is releasing a book on this in about a week called The Vacation Effect. ??

I love this Suzi. When we really want to create space, we can. I cleared two days this week for Reiki training because it was important to me. We can choose to be the Victor of our schedule rather than the victim. Most things are not nearly as important as we make them out to be. ??
