The key metric for YOUR success on Linkedin!
I talk a lot about the most important metric being engagement on LinkedIn. And that’s true. Getting engagement from followers is great. But your OWN engagement on the platform is king.
What’s seldom talked about is the fact that you can learn most things with time. Technically, you don’t need any social media experts if you don’t mind putting the time and effort into learning how to be effective on the various platforms. This is true with most things. The caveat to this is that most people don’t have one year or two years of consistent effort , for example, to understand all the nuances. Influencers who say no one needs to hire a consultant are leaving out that they spend A LOT of their time on social media. Most people don’t have that time.
All you really need is a commitment to engage on the platform every day. If you do so, here are a few things you may notice:
1. Spammy messages become extremely annoying as you grow your following. One spammy message is fine. But getting them ad nauseam multiple times a day really makes you want to erase your account.
2. The more you emulate a REAL social environment when you message prospects, the better your chances are of them buying your services or products.
3. A LinkedIn Local is a networking event facilitated by LinkedIn. That’s right! The more you go to these events, the higher the likelihood that you will meet popular influencers.
4. There is a network of influencers who will comment on your posts if you are part of the crowd so to speak. One way to be part of the ‘crowd’ is to engage with their content CONSISTENTLY. Put in the work. It pays.
5. The best way to create a personal brand is by being personal. Business posts rarely receive any engagement.
6. The fact that Microsoft took over and made free accounts less valuable makes paid accounts exponentially more valuable.
7. LinkedIn is making constant improvements and that’s great. For example, LinkedIn live is coming soon! The paid ad platform is becoming more and more valuable. Major changes to groups on LinkedIn have been made.
8. Posting content on LinkedIn is extremely valuable now. If you post content every day, you will get business.

5 年I just came across this article. Out of all the activity I have taken on LinkedIn, I feel like commenting on other's content is hands-down the most effective thing I can do on a regular basis to achieve my goals. Great article!

5 年Excellent observations and advice. The sad aspect of LinkedIn is that only a tiny percentage of members participate in anything. Hopefully this will encourage many more to get involved.

5 年Engagement is key for most things.? When viewing my 'profile viewed by' it's always significantly more on days/weeks where I was 'liking' and commenting on posts.? I have yet to post any articles myself, but have thought a lot about it.? I'd like to have my first week of articles (one a day) done before posting my first.? I'm always curious to hear other opinions and insights on a variety of topics.
