Key Lessons from the Government's Copilot Trial

Key Lessons from the Government's Copilot Trial

The Whole of Australian Government Copilot for M365 trial results show that all organisations have the opportunity to benefit from Copilot for M365's productivity gains. 69% of survey respondents agreed that Copilot improved the speed at which they could complete tasks, and critically 40% of survey respondents reported an ability to reallocate their time to higher value activities!

Buried in the data though are some important lessons to maximise the all important ROI on Copilot:

  1. Most users reported using Copilot less than once a day, for most people this will still lead to a positive Copilot ROI, however organisations that can more effectively drive change will be able to extract more value from Copilot for M365.
  2. Organisations should ensure that users are properly supported to get the most out of Copilot by training them on how best to use the technology for their specific business needs. (16% more users were fairly or very confident with Copilot once they had three or more forms of training). However, organisations need to focus on sharing use cases with users as opposed to the features of Copilot for M365.
  3. Organisations should ensure that their information, management and security practices are up to speed so as to give users confidence that they can use Copilot for M365 safely. This was strong feedback that came through from the focus groups.
