The Key To Landing Your Dream Job

The Key To Landing Your Dream Job

If there’s one thing that most college students don’t do, but should do it’s taking advantage of Career Services. This is one thing that I did do when I was in school which is how I met Dr. Calvin Williams. He was able to guide me in my job search and I can’t say enough good things about him or Career Services.

In most schools there are 3 departments within Career Services: Career Development, Experiential Learning, and Employer Relations. The first time that you visit Career Services you will probably speak to someone within the Career Development department. This department focuses mainly on helping students figure out what major to choose and they also review resumes and help with interviewing skills. The Experiential Learning department helps you get internships and externships. Last but not least, the Employer Relations department focuses on connecting students with the companies that they want to work for.

This is a free resource that you can use while you’re in college so make sure you take advantage of it! They have so much knowledge and they’re there to help you. I suggest visiting Career Services as early as you can so that you can make the most of what they have to offer. It’s important that you build relationships with the people working there because the more they know you the more they will be able to help you in your journey to land your dream job. Visiting Career Services is definitely not something that you want to wait until the last minute to do. According to Dr. Calvin Williams, you can never visit Career Services too early, but you can be too late.”

Whether you need help with your resume or you need help connecting with companies, just go! Somebody there will be able to help you, but they can’t help you if you never show up. I promise that you won’t be disappointed and I would even go as far as to say that visiting Career Services is the key to landing your dream job. For more information about Career Services and how to make the most of it, make sure to click the link below and listen to the podcast.
