The Key Importance of being a teacher.

The Key Importance of being a teacher.

Role of teachers is very important, as they would act as changing agent in development process and in developing a society. They must also become role models, as they have great influence on their students. Do not put a full stop to your studies was his last piece of advice to budding teachers. Good teachers teach less and make their children learn more. Questioning power must be developed in students, as it is the basis for all technological and scientific development.

Teachers must be continuous learners to update their knowledge as they have been moulding the manpower required for nation building. They have the responsibility in preparing the students to become professionals, while teachers typically don't reap lucrative financial benefits, they receive other meaningful rewards such as seeing a parent's tears of joy and a student's sudden comprehension of a concept; as well as their own satisfaction of a job well done. In addition, being a teacher can offer a chance to exercise individuality, pursue varied subject matter and enjoy a schedule unique to the profession.

Those passionate about teaching point to the benefits of working with children and positively influencing the lives of their students. Other advantages of teaching are the summer-off schedules and the ability to pursue intellectual interests. For example, someone who's interested in physics may choose to pursue a college teaching career in physics so they can further their own knowledge on the subject.

Motivate students

They must acquire professional skills to motivate students. “Teachers should change them self to be in the race, failing which they will be left behind,” Efficiency, professional competency and empathy towards students are the other basic qualities.

Knowledge-based society

Teachers must strive to create a knowledge-based society instead of information-based society. More over, students must be trained to rein in their emotions and overcome their failures. Thoughts and ideas of students must be respected and recognised by teachers, she added.

A true teacher is the one who inspires and encourages students to develop a desire to learn and succeed. Teachers should not forget that learning situation must be free.”

Opportunities for teachers are bright not only in India, but all over the world. Teaching students have to equip themselves to meet global requirement for teaching profession.

Positive Impact

Teachers have the ability to make a positive impact on their students. Good teachers set high expectations and motivate the students to meet those expectations. As students strive for excellence, teachers assist students in meeting their highest potential through daily lessons. Teachers also serve as role models. Teachers make a contribution to society by preparing students for their real world endeavors. They teach students through example to be kind, respectful, humble, patient and determined.

Flexibility

Teachers can gain certifications to teach multiple grade levels, from kindergarten to high school. They can specialize in different subjects in the upper grade levels, such as math, technology, geography and foreign language. The more certifications a teacher obtains, the more flexibility he has to change grade levels and offer a positive impact to a wider range of students. In addition, as long as the teacher remains in the same state as he received his certification, he can apply for jobs at other schools throughout the state. If he chooses to leave the state, he may have to take the new state's teacher certification test to become eligible for a teaching job.

Creative Control

While teachers must adhere to curriculum guidelines set out by the state and school district, they have a certain amount of creative control, so that they can teach according to their own styles. They can use their creativity in the lessons that they plan and the way that they deliver the lessons. They can make adjustments to lessons and gather input from their students to make learning more meaningful.

Unique Schedule

Teachers typically work nine months out of the year, with various holidays scattered throughout their work schedule. Extended vacations of one to two weeks during winter and spring holidays are not uncommon. The hours teachers work usually fall between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., with a lunch break and a planning period built in to their schedules. This type of schedule allows teachers the opportunity to recharge, re-evaluate and become better educators.

Vital to teaching and learning in every classroom:

Students need to learn about the world.

Children who are in school now will grow up to be adults in an increasingly interconnected and multicultural society. Students need to be aware of cultural norms and differences around the world so that they can succeed and thrive. The real crux are universal goals for all people, and are inherently global in nature. Learning about these initiatives helps students develop insights into issues around the world, such as lack of access to clean water and gender equality. These issues are inseparable from culture, and to truly understand the learning, students need to learn about the world around them.

Students must be active participants in the world they live in.

To solve the world’s biggest challenges, we must encourage students to be active participants in their local and global communities. Developing global citizens who are passionate about caring for others and our world is essential for them to be members of our society. The teachers should engage students in practical goals and problem-solving.

Students learn empathy and compassion.

When students learn about such as those about poverty, hunger, and high-quality education, they begin to understand the unique challenges facing communities all over the world that they may not have known about before. Students need empathy to develop healthy relationships throughout their lives. Building compassion in children leads to passionate, engaged adults.

Students and teachers are inspired to take action.

Teachers do not need to be experts in topics such as responsible consumption or clean energy to teach .They can learn and explore these issues alongside their students, and plan ways to take action together. Once students have an understanding of learning and why they are necessary, they will be inspired to make positive changes, in big and small ways. We have seen this in countless ways through our work with teachers, from high school students raising awareness about human trafficking to first graders conserving water by turning off their classroom faucets more frequently.

Together, with teachers and students, we can be a powerful force for achieving the vision of a more peaceful, healthy, and equitable world.

Because they have a daily influence on the lives of children, teachers are often held to high standards. In the midst of all of their responsibilities, they're required to serve as strong role models and demonstrate ethical behaviors as they interact with students, colleagues, parents and others. Developing and following a professional code of ethics helps make sure teachers act in a professional and ethical manner at all times.

Working with Students

A teacher's job is to provide a quality education to all students. A professional code of ethics must address this fact, stating that teachers must not show favoritism or discriminate against students. Teachers also must interact with students appropriately, not taking advantage of students in any way, bullying students or putting them down. Contact with students outside of the classroom or school building must be kept to a minimum and must focus on school-related activities and events.

Student Safety

In addition to a teacher's job to help all students learn, a professional code of ethics also addresses a teacher's responsibility to keep students safe. Teachers must abide by all school and classroom safety procedures to ensure student safety. It's also a teacher's responsibility to report instances of bullying and harassment. If a teacher suspects cases of abuse or neglect, or a student confides in a teacher in cases of abuse or neglect, the teacher is required to report it to the proper authorities, even if the student requests otherwise.

Professional Practice

Teachers must maintain ethical behavior in professional practice by accurately representing and maintaining certifications, licenses and other qualifications. Applying for a teaching certificate with false information or lying about meeting the requirements to renew the certificate can lead to a loss of teaching privileges. In addition to qualifications, teachers must practice ethical behavior when it comes to reporting grades and handling assessments. Misrepresenting grades or altering student responses on assessments can lead to criminal charges and the loss of a job.

Working with Colleagues

In a school, teachers must collaborate with administrators, fellow teachers and other employees in order to provide a safe and positive learning experience for students. A teacher must follow the direction of administrators, even if rules or expectations seems unreasonable, in order to avoid undermining an administrator's authority and to set a positive example for students. When disagreements arise between teachers, they must handle the disagreements in private and refrain from talking negatively about colleagues in front of students. In addition, teachers must engage in appropriate relationships with colleagues, keeping personal feelings and adult behaviors out of the school.

Interacting with Stakeholders

Aside from colleagues, teachers have a responsibility to interact positively with parents and other stakeholders in a child's education. Contact with parents must be kept professional, free from arguments and physical contact. If a teacher has an issue with a parent, another teacher or administrator must be present during all meetings. Teachers also must avoid being unduly influenced by parents and other stakeholders when it comes to students' grades or other school-related matters.
